FLCL (Japanese: フリクリ Hepburn: Furi Kuri?, pronounced in English as Fooly Cooly) is an original video animation series written by Yōji Enokido, directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki and produced by the FLCL Production Committee, which included Gainax, Production I.G, and Starchild Records. FLCL follows Naota Nandaba, a twelve-year-old boy living in the fictional Japanese suburb of Mabase, and his interactions with Haruko Haruhara, who arrives in the quiet suburb, drawn by the industrial town houses and the Medical Mechanica building.

As An a American watching this when I was 6 this ending always fascinated me especially when I showed legit Japan city streets. It looked so different from what I was used to here in the US as a kid that is looked like a crazy fantasy. Love this ending

I was 3 or 4. But besides what you said I loved the Japanese letters or characters it always reminded me of the beginning of or the end of a East Asian action film

Both the opening and the ending theme fascinated me I thought the show was really good even though it had some really wrong moments. There was just something clever about it I don't know what it was I couldn't put my finger on it.

Watching this during the adult swim era really hit different. FLCL and neon Genesis evangelion were animes I loved but never understood the plot fully until I got older. Even to this day I'm still mindfkd lol.

FLCL was the gateway that led me to the world of anime way back when I was a kid. Sure, younger me saw stuff like Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, and Naruto, but it was FLCL that really grabbed my attention. It may or may not be due to the fact that I was a kid who was growing during the early 2010s who just so happened to catch an episode of this playing one late night.

I was super poor with a broken family growing up and parents using drugs etc but even with being bullied in middle school this is one of the happiest times of my life I remember watching these shows super late on adult swim. This show hit me different than any other. Through all the bad this was still good.

Not my dad's, no sir. And he learned from his dad, a veteran of D Day. Then there was Douglas Bard, 1st-2nd grade principal. He delivered his beltsmanship in public. Sister Bea, my God, lol. Because the Studio and creators were making fun of anime and manga as a whole. They even appear in the series as a joke of why they could no longer do panels or something because it was too crazy and then the fans said they were lazy...lol. It wasn't supposed to have a reason, as they said in the series, "What Does it Mean?" The creators come on and even ask the characters in the show what it really means. The original today is dated and they have changed it now, but when it came out it changed much in anime and probably even saved it. Sadly, most people in North America saw it on Cartoon Network and that's a shame because it was cut and edited. The new version isn't even watchable I feel because they lost the craziness of what the original had...
