What a day of surprises! Our friend asked me to meet her at her new antique space, and what a shock to find it's in an old Flea Market that was so full of junk when I last went that I'd crossed it off my list. But here we are, so with hope and trepidation, in we go....and wow, what a surprise!
This place has a new owner, a new attitude and some good antique and vintage dealers with plenty to keep us interested! Post Falls, Idaho is in the middle of major antiquing country, and "Treasure Towne Antiques & Artisans Market" has morphed into a fun mall with good vintage finds, some real deals and a few things we've never seen!
Our friend and viewer Corene Kay meets us to show us around, and just her small space has more collectible vintage than this whole place did last time! Empoli and Fenton, a Lenox spice village set and an art deco marcasite pin (she knows her jewelry!) jumps out at us, but it's an art glass paperweight oil lamp that starts our purchase pile at the front counter. We meet Gloria, the new owner who's changed this from low-end junk mall to a real artisan and antique venue in just a few months!
It helps that both experienced antique mavens and new vintage vendors are joining the store...we next meet Marie, an old friend from the Custer's Spokane Antique Show with 40 years in the business and a ton of really interesting pieces to show! We've never before seen that naughty 1884 legs corkscrew (grandpa hid that one away), and the box of Victorian figural buttons by it has some fun surprises too. Straight razors, sewing implements, bakelite brushes and a beautiful green mesh purse captivate us...but there's much more to see!
Other dealers who are new to antiques and vintage are restocking today, so we help identify a few things. The glass piece from a Blenko designer is anything but Blenko; one Paragon fortune telling cup is worth five times what the others are; and a Fenton basket has the elusive 'handler's marks' tag so you know which artisan crafted its handle all give us a chance to share info and learn together. This place has gone from "must miss" to "must stop" during my next trip along I-90!

WhooHoo! Another late night treat for me! I say, “late night,” because it’s what I do late at night when sleep doesn’t come easily for me. George, your guided tours of shopping (meaning picking and thrifting) destinations through the Country are entertaining, relaxing and restful for my tired and overstimulated mind! Just what I need late at night. Thank you for your soothing voice as you share your words of wisdom! ❤🎉❤

Good evening, George! Loved that Jefferson berry set! Those, though, like the beverage sets, take a lot of real estate to display. I think I have three or four berry sets, but nowhere to put another. I have my great granddad's straight razor, shaving brush and strop. That Erphila vase was really nice. I used to have quite a collection of solid white vases. They make a really nice display. It's amasing at how all white and smooth vases, in different shapes, can be so attractive. Loved that urn-shaped vase, with the bird on it! I've always liked the monk pieces, and used to have quite a lot of them. Now, I just buy the monk pieces in Goofus Glass...if I can find them. I have one of those large tin candy boxes, with "Old Ironsides" on it. I was told Beechnut chewing gum originally came in it. That Royal Sealy "Capri" wine set really caught my eye. I'd like to have one, and had plans to get a set of it, but I just have no place to put one. Loved the match and stamp safes. I'm like you - small really matters, now. There were some nice old button hooks there, in the case with the darning eggs. That was really a nice shop! It sounds like it had a rather drastic turn-around. It was a pleasure to shop along with you there!

Hey George once upon a time I worked in a chemistry lab and I checked all my old China and it didn't only have met in it it also is very high and cadmium which is really not good for you it's really important to remind people that some of the old China with hot food will reach the chemicals and minerals into the food you are eating. It can be rather an expensive to have it checked for toxic paint any local chemistry lab like Loucks in Seattle

Hi George, great segment! Not sure if you know of Tom Breneman, but if you get the chance, watch the old film, "Breakfast in Hollywood". I absolutely adore how you try on a ladies hat, (the more outrageous, the better!), much like he did on his radio program. Hedda Hopper was a frequent guest and was known for her fantastic "toppers". 👒 I really don't watch much content on KZfaq, but I have to say your travels and finds put your program in the top ten list of my "must watch" tv!
