Fantastic show. You found some great treasures. Looking forward to the restorations. The wooden handled sewer you wondered about looks identical to a hand sewer I have seen in use at the local boat canvas shop. Those working gas engines are glimpses 8nto the past and how people figured out how to solve practical day to day problems.

@timeflysintheshop
@timeflysintheshop 3 жыл бұрын
@@357magdad Yes. I could not think of what to call it, but it is an amazingly simple way to have a variable gear ratio including reverse without gears, or any fluids. The minecart used a part with wood blocks to interact with the friction disk, so it would be easy to repair or replace the blocks when they wore out.

Those long nose Krauter pliers are the ideal piece for restoration as they don’t look to be very good but under the crud they’re in perfect condition. They should come up like new. Thanks for watching Gordon! I think that 660 is gonna end up paying for the rest of my haul, even with the chip!

That one you think is a sewing kit is a quick stitch needle kit. It makes a locking stitch.

Looks like a popular brand name is Speedy Stitcher. It has the spool of thread in the handle.

I alway like the perfect handle screw drivers. I have a thing for monkey wrenches as well, especially if they say Coes Worcester.

Art out of artillery shells, if old, is part of a category called 'TrenchArt'.. It became more popular during WWI.

We had a couple of Roper plants, and during WWII the West plant that made kitchen ranges(stoves) converted to making 3" and 50 cal. casings...just the brass bases. My Great Aunt's Uncle worked themachine shop/tool & die/pattern room and used regects to make lamps or picture frame embellishment with polished aluminum and shells.

Woo! That was a very interesting retention mechanism on the trimo wrench. Looked like a wedge was pinned into the end of the threaded portion of the moving jaw? That's a clever fix
