I remember watching the episode when you announced the Paisley gauge was off-when you said you were going to rip it all out & start over, I gasped. Since then, when I need to rip back, I tell myself “oh stop complaining-Kim ripped back Paisley!” So, so happy to see it finished: it’s beautiful & it looks great on you.

Kim and Ken, your kindness and humanity never fail to impress me. Diva had a gentle shearing that didn't cause any discomfort to her, bless the shearer's heart. I hope Diva enjoys her summer grazing the fresh pastures. Kim, your Paisley is impressive! What a beautiful garment you have knit. I would like to say Congratulations to Betsy on her 20th wedding anniversary! What a lovely journey to Norway to celebrate. Betsy and Simone always share such beautiful and interesting projects. Thank you for the Harmony ending, so peaceful! Take good care all, see you in the next video.

There is quite a bit of magic happening in the southeast corner of PEI. Beautiful projects are being released from their needles: Kim's sweater is simply majestic, Simone's wedding shawl is utterly gorgeous, and the hat Betsy knitted for her husband is equally lovely. For those watching, there are all sorts of fibers and colours to choose from. A new yarn is in the works and so very exciting for those involved, I'm sure, as for those patiently waiting to make its appearance. All the while, the sun is shining, the grass is growing, the sheep are grazing to their little hearts' content while their fiber is being spun into beautiful blankets that we will later get to cuddle in. The horses stand guard while their human owners go about their business. If we are at all sad and weary, we only need to watch this podcast to revel in the blanket of peace and serenity woven so well. Thank you for making it all happen. 💖💖

Interesting about the spinning process. Simone and Betsy both have eyes that "smile" (if you have noticed). So cute to see them on either side of you as matching smiling eyes bookends! We shear lot of our sheep standing (Leicester Long wools) and it takes more time but preserves the locks well on special ones. Great idea with Diva.

Funny to hear Betsy tell the newbies not to worry about purl stitches. I never knew why everyone was anti-purl, but after learning to knit through covid, I realized I've been purling through the back loop. I was so new to knitting and I didn't notice until I went to knit something flat recently after many in the round protects. Wild to think about now that I realized, but now I'm Norwegian purling as I always should have! Ha!

Hi Kim, thank you so much for your podcast. Also, what a pattern siren you are ;-) I've bought the pattern and yarn and am ready to cast on my Tune, too. I chose dark navy and a rusty colour (Schachenmayr Catania) and I loved all your yarn suggestions, too, especially the neon colour pops. Thank you for the inspiration!

It is three balls of each. Simone squeaked out the colour part in 2 balls, but she literally had 2 yards left. If your gauge is even a bit different, you will be short with 2 balls of the Felted Tweed Colour.

I learned intarsia in the round many years ago from a KZfaq tutorial that unfortunately I can’t remember the author, but the lady made a wrap and turn at the end of the round, then she worked the next “round” in the opposite direction as a purl round, in that way she found the working yarn for the next color in the correct side. So, what she really did was working flat rows with the first and last stitches connected with a wrap and turn to work the next row in the opposite direction. I hope it makes sense.
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast

Yes - it makes sense. Might just be better to learn ladderback jacquard though. Ha!

Finally catching up and wanted to add a comment about intarsia in the round. No, you actually do it flat, but there is a technique to knit it in the round - however you really do it flat. Knitting with Suzanne Bryan has a video here on KZfaq about the technique called "Intarsia in the Round - Made Simple".

I have done both intarsia and ladder back jacquard, and I think the ladder back is much easier when it comes to yarn management. Both look good, but the ladder back is easier in the round than intarsia, which is easier in flat knitting, in my experience. I learned both from videos and had no problem, despite being a bit apprehensive. They are both great for non-wooly yarns such as cotton where traditional float catching can show through. I do a lot of cotton and fine gauge wool for my warm climate and floats do show through a bit more than with more traditional woolen spun yarn so these are useful techniques.

I will have to try the ladder back - even if its in a swatch.

Love the Paisley! I’ll bet it feels wonderful to have it done. Very much looking forward to your new yarn - and your progress on Tune. I’m currently working with Summerlite dk and look forward to any advise you have on weaving in ends neatly so they don’t poke through.

It feels great to have it finished! thanks for watching. For Summerlite DK I use a sharp darning needle and work it into the plies of the yarn (split the plies on the purl bumps).

Love Simone’s sweater, a very pretty color. I like the assigned pooling shawl but I also don’t wear shawls or wraps. I wonder how it would look in a yoke for a sweater.
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast Жыл бұрын
It would probably work in a yoke. You just need to do the pooling. in a section with increases or decreases so the motifs don't stack up on top of each other.

Wow. It is difficult to shear on the hoof! Diva was happy. So, do the sheep get sun burned until the fleece begins to grow again?
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast Жыл бұрын
Yes it took more than 6 minutes as opposed to the 2 minutes when done in the normal way - even if she was being very still! They can get sunburned, but in fact, even if they look naked, there is still a bit of wool left on them. That protects them for the most part. ...not that we have had to worry about many sunny days around here lately. They also have access to shade all the time.
