The Vaudeville Years of Fleetwood Mac 1968 to 1970 is an album by British blues rock band Fleetwood Mac, released in 1998. It was a compilation of outtakes and unreleased tracks. Find the full version of Underway here : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rbFzltidtrvcf4E.html
My humble opinion as a young guitarist & meloman is that Hendrix & Peter Green are the best (blues/rocks) guitarist...without a doubt. They both could bring me to a point I had never been before with other musician, I've been litteraly transcended, insane, I felt like something methaphysic...
They both had a "short-career" but very intense, producing a lot, creating a lot, playing a lot and within 3 years they were "gone".
Peter Green is an amazing guitarist, he can play with such a sweet note, subtle note (Jumping at shadows) or with such a powerful ton. I find some BBKing in Peter Green 's way of playing : in some of his number, it's just amazing how he couples minor and Major notes during solo.
The best "rave up" are in my opinion this one and of course the very famous "Rattlesnake Shake - Boston Tea Party "
Enjoy

@@PhukIT1865 Peter Green was a Badass! With the release of live Fleetwood Mac music on KZfaq we can all see the flair Peter adds to many of the American blues songs. His interpretation of BB Kings "I got a mind to give up living" is Peter at his peak. His tone is unmatched by any British blues guitarist. Peter excels in long jams getting the group involved. Mick Fleetwood said he did not like the extended version of the Madge sessions but shows differently. RIP Peter and Danny

I don't doubt it- but I heard Mick say, in a later inverview, that he preferred (though he loved original setup) latter Fleetwood Mac. I did not detect flaw in his speech pattern however I just do wonder now, what he truly thinks of the original Mac and the sound, and talent, and quality of it all! Not "oh I think it's better now". I don't want it to be a comparison (which btw on stage Nicks just stinks, now).

Agreed. Mick Fleetwood is hugely underrated. The Mac came to play our blues club in 67 I think it was, where I was playing bass in the resident band. He was the first drummer I had seen who could play a double shuffle.I was mesmirised!

This piece shows how underrated Mick and John really have been. They have been the rhythm section that carry the band along. They set the best rhythm for the number and form the rock solid basis for the guitarists to hang the melody and riffs on. Gives the guitarists freedom to develop the melody and riffs. No seeking drum solos. Very like Watts and Wyman.

Thanks to John Peel I found this band very early on when Jeremy did most of the vocals. I only saw them live once on 16th October 1969 in “Green’s Playhouse” Glasgow where I was a student. I nicked the poster from the common room & had it on my Bedroom Wall for years, sadly lost now. They played live better than on record. Sad Peter & Danny died too young.

Just discovered this six-year-old post and so glad to find it! Thank you! I think they might have played this to open their set at a little dance hall called the Sound Factory in Sacramento in 1968 or 69. Can't be sure because memory fails on details. I think it was their first USA tour, or at least to California. They looked so young...around my age at the time (19) after a year in the Air Force and just before going to southeast Asia. I was surprised how informal they were and wearing jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. The first thing Peter said was something like "We're a bit nervous, do you mind if we jam a little to loosen up?" Years later after buying all their U.S. albums (up to and including Future Games) I grew to love "Searching For Madge" (edited version on Then Play On) but only more recently started to believe they might have jammed on it to start that show. Which, by the way, wasn't even a full house in a smallish venue. I had just started to learn to play guitar...didn't realize then what a treasured memory it would be! Wish I could bring up more details on my brain's hard drive...haha. But I do recall them starting slow and eventually building to this same hard charging pace and multiple guitar duels. Just got chills thinking about it. Sorry for the long ramble.

This jam is simply fantastic. Danny & Peter playing off each other is a wonder to listen. Both of them were my heroes since my days in '70. They influence my style of playing. Their music will live on forever. RIP for both of them. SL

Peter Green exhibits a direct connection between his head heart his fingers and a higher power.. Peter's love for the Delta blues and the Chicago blues sound gave him a starting point to emulate the greats . On this song and the Then Play On LP Peter showed his skill by combining the American blues with a more modern rock style creating a sound that put his skill and pushed the blues into another stratosphere that set fire to his music with the fire of his desires. Peter created a sound that is still being heard today and emulated by the new boys in town . Peter was a generational talent that has not been seen since he left us in 1970-1971. RIP to The Green God

This comes from the "Then Play On" (1969) sessions . A great extended jam. One note, the "Wee One" Jeremy Spencer did not play on the sessions for this album. So what we are hearing is a massive guitar duel between Peter Green and Danny Kirwan. This is great stuff!

Right? Sickest tone ever, and there's nothing to it. Literally just a guitar into an amp. The tone sounds so good because their PLAYING is so good. For a period they had Orange amps and later Fender amps. No pedals. They turn the amps up LOUD and then use the guitar's volume knob to dial it back. Their flawless technique and vibrato is the result of years of playing along with blues records. Literally the only way you can get that good. You're not born with it.

Fleetwood Mac brought a little light, wonder and humor into a period of obscurity and weariness in my life. Listening to it many years later, my sensitivity and admiration I felt for it grew. A difficult listening at first, he lends the orchestral direction of his flayed intelligence, until he draws you inevitably into his universe. Each listening reveals a little more of its mystery, its magic, this work becomes ineluctably timeless “Imperial”🌷

Ineluctably have to look it up. .. i wonder, when I hear something so magnificent like this , and am move to comment I struggle with finding THE words that will show or at least point toward the sublime experience that music can bring, along with the astonishment that these people have this expression of self that can make such beauty and wonder. I stretch out for new words to match or equal the extension of and new level above what I had known as even possible before. This happens with Jimmy Hendrix repeatedly This music by Fleetwood Mac is remarkable

The band are firing on all cylinders here and thanks for the download. Peter plays with his heart, head, his fingers and a Higher Power. During the British Blues Boom of the 1960's Peter showed his superior feel, tone and understanding of playing slow enough to feel every note and yet add to the balance of the song. He did not feel it necessary to stand out as the guitar God but a member of a band, his lack of ego made for a better overall sound, each band member felt and was part of the finalized product. Even though Peter Green past on his music will comfort us. RIP Peter

Although I did not get to hear this jam, I had the Golden opportunity to hear Fleetwood Mac as a warm up band, followed by the original Pink Floyd, followed by The Who in 1968 at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit. I couldn't speak for a few days afterwards. Dumbfounded or as it is also said "Gobsmacked".
