they should really make a guitar video for either Minotaur or Elegy...with all the deserved praise they get I think their guitars are criminally underrated, especially on Labyrinth where the orchestra overshadows them quite often. If you already think their guitar style sounds amazing, I guarantee you still underestimate them until you know/see what they play

I personally like the orchestra in Labyrinth. They're fast and loud, but drown other instruments. I think the reason is that they wanted to be the album to be more epic rather than just fast and heavy.

Paolo is doing Skype lessons right now too, I had one a few weeks ago. One hour, great price, really good information and feedback. If you want to learn from a true pro I highly recommend. This video is awesome too. Need to learn this song.... Need to downtune the hell out of my bass first.

I agree. Not only do the many videos I see with multiple cuts feel fake when they're supposed to be real, but having just one angle and no distortions would be a lot quicker for the editor(s). That alone is a bonus to your point.

I really love fleshgod apocalypse, but sometimes with their huge orchestral textures this kind of playing gets lost in the mix

Well even their guitars sometimes get drowned lol. I'm happy that their mix has gotten better on the latest two albums and you can mostly hear the bass if you listen to it.

Gojira, Lamb Of God, Dimmu Borgir, Amorphis and Behemoth come to mind. But it depends on what you like in music. Do you like more epic and melodic stuff or more harsh and dark music or something completely different?
