The way they pronounced it is the common french pronunciation for the name 'Xavier' but is also used a lot in England too

A friend of mine just named her daughter Billie, super cute and very rare here in Sweden :) As for the middle name being an animal my guess is Robin, or Bunny as well

I agree with Mike about the names like Chanel, Mercedes, Diamond, etc... not to be offensive to anyone given that name but it does seem a bit ostentatious and tacky.

i don't normally like names like that either. i would never call my child mercedes or diamond! however, i do really like the name chanel and i don't know why

Agreed, for the most part. The only one I would disagree with is "Mercedes" since that religious (Catholic) name was in existence way before becoming a car brand name. But I understood what Mike meant. Other jewel names could be cute though - like Ruby or Jade. Ruby is super popular nowadays.

If the name is of cultural significance to you, then great. I just meant that often people can be turned off from a name due to associations with brands, TV, celebrities, and so on without regards to the origin or meaning of the name.

There's a woman in my yoga class named Tequila. I've heard it before it's not unheard of. I personally can't imagine using it, but I know lots of people who like the name Jamison/Jameson with sounds just as bad imo.

Hi!, Javier is spanish and Xavier is from Catalonia in Spain... We call Lola to women whose name is Dolores. If we translate Dolores to english it means: “pains” I like Alba and Alma. Alma means: soul, and Alba means: the light before the sunrise. 💋

The problem these days is that everyone is so caught up on "not having a common name" that eventually we are literally going to end up with children with the most ridiculous made up names. I'm a paediatric clinician by the way so I have seen many magical creations from parents. Let me tell you there are some shockers! X

There's a line you have to walk, I think. You want to like how a name sounds and/ or what it means, but it also has to be both unique enough to serve its purpose- a unique identifier, but no so weird people will say 'I'm sorry, what' every time the kid introduces him or herself.

I think when naming a child, it’s important to remember that you’re not naming a kid, you’re naming an adult that will be looking for a professional job and will too possibly be a parent.
