In Texas a 100 degrees is not even a hot day anymore. 105-110 is becoming the summer norm. I wish Flex would fix this battery leak issue. But I like their tools.

Suggested Corrections: - They ARE still selling the non-stacked, leaky batteries (look at Lowe’s and ACME, their 2 largest sellers’ sites). - While FLEX does replace the leaky batteries, they do NOT replace them with the upgraded stacked batteries, and.. - The battery replacement counts towards your 3 max lifetime battery replacements (per battery purchased, per the FLEX Founders’ Lifetime Limited Warranty) That said- great video!

As a proud Flex owner I will say a lot of people are give Flex a lot of flak and compare them to current Gen models of tools like Milwaukee, Dewalt and Makita. The problem ends up being is a lot of the tools they came out with on launch are exactly that.. launch tools or Gen 1 tools, over time they will be more refined and improved. Just like every other company. As far as those batteries leaking, it was a good idea on paper to add the thermo gel to protect the cells from over heating but hasn’t worked the way they intended and they are aware of it and will/did make improvements on it with the new stacked lithium batteries. As well as with each new tool release they have gotten better with each one that comes out. I appreciate how you mentioned that you don’t torture test the tools, that you just use them on the jobsite every day which is exactly what I do and most likely what most people do with their tools. Which it’s the best test of time for the tools. All in all I don’t plan on switching to another brand because I see big things happening from Flex in the future and wish more people would come around.

I have a real issue with Flex, namely, the fact that it is a Chinese owned and Chinese Communist Party controlled company that has bought the rights to a German tool brand. If you're comfortable with China's increasing market share in consumer goods, vehicles, tools, etc upon which people rely to keep America running then buy from Chinese companies. But I'm guessing that people that buy Flex are happy to just bury their heads in the sand and get a good deal.

The first gen of Milwaukee FUEL drills, impacts, sawzalls, and circular saws had a lot of warranty claims and replaced countless trigger and stator winding assemblies. The second gen fixed the motor burn up issues.

Thank you so much for your info on the batteries. The latest tools I got are the sander and the router & and am very happy with them. I have 16 of their tools & noticed 4 batteries are leaking. Because of that I felt discouraged about using their tools THEN I watched your KZfaq video. I felt so relieved! Thank you!!! By the way, Flex has come out with a TABLE SAW. They'll release it soon. I saw that on Tool Review KZfaq channel.

I bought into Flex ONLY because I found a killer clearance price on a combo kit at Lowes. I'm VERY glad I did find such a deal, otherwise I would have never invested in this brand at full retail prices. These are AWESOME tools, with tons of power. Now I've since purchased the Reciprocating saw, Circular Saw, and angle grinder from sales at Acme Tools. I do have one battery leaking now, and I guess I'll see how easily they warranty that as all of my tools are registered. One thing I'm not gappy about at all is the fact that even though its a "Lifetime Warranty", you're only allowed three battery replacements. Barely 3 months after purchase, l have a leaking battery. So now for the rest of my life, I'll only get two more battery replacements. I'm not exactly happy about THAT part at ALL.

I've got a bag with 22 dead Flex batteries in it. They replaced them all, and replaced the replacements. I think I have 7 that can't be replaced again. Once the gel leaks out, and makes a mess, they can only be charged a couple times before they croak. I had batteries leak from just sitting tools in the sun. They can't handle Texas summers.

I was looking forward to the grinder because it has a variable speed, and it is super light did a little digging and found out the compa y was bought by a Chinese corporation... it explains why the quality dropped

I've been searching for you....not 'you' specifically, but the voice of a contractor that has worked his perspective ass off, having experienced tools that break in the middle of the Job, at 3:30 in the afternoon, and you know you can have the job complete if everything goes according to plan, by 6:00 at the latest, only to have that critical tool die. No tool manufacturer wants their name tied to that experience. That being said, the Cornwell tool guy doesn't carry FLEX, (or I'd already have those tools in my own arsenal.😎) I am however on both Milwaukee FUEL Platforms. I don't own any of Milwaukee's woodworking tools, nor any of their new 'Forge' batteries. I do like that FLEX threw in their lot on pouch cell batteries instead of the 'old' lithium cell packs. I'm pressed when a successful contractor takes time out of his busy day to tell others who may be considering the purchase of a new tool to replace the old, but working ones.(I'd still ride around with the old, but still working ones for 6mons, or a year, until the new guys prove themselves as reliable as the crew.🤠)

For anyone viewing this in the future or presently… flex has fixed this issue. They did a recall on all non stacked lithium batteries at lowes, so every kit and individual battery that was not stacked lithium was returned to chervon. I don’t have a clue why acme tools is still selling those kits, but I wouldn’t buy anything that isn’t stacked lithium unless it’s the compact drill or compact impact driver. Those batteries are fine. The recall happened about 2 months ago and for all of you who do have battery issues they will warranty them out for new ones. Seems like a small bump in the road for a great tool brand

I have three 2.5Ah and two 5Ah batteries. One of the 5Ah batteries developed a visible leak. I opened up the battery to clean it out, and it was a mess. The issue is some phase-change coolant material which literally melts like chocolate. This material is corrosive, as evidenced by looking at its effect on the cell connectors. I opened up all my other batteries. They ALL exhibited melting, in various stages. I removed the bottom layer of this material but there is also another layer on top of the batteries and in between (5Ah) which are unreachable without a total disassembly. Even if your batteries do not exhibit leaking, the odds are the process has started if you have one of the older production units. One of the 2.5Ah batteries (which I never even used!) flashes all LED’s and cannot be charged. It was one of the most gunked up ones, so I’d have to believe this material is likely harmful to the battery if it seeps into certain areas.

As construction is my life. I love tools every kind of durable tools. I just find it hard to invest into a brand that you just spoke with so many flaws. It seems to early for a growing platform to have so many flaws. Leaking batteries. Chargers barely get wet and quit functioning these tools are supposed to be ip54 rating. Also the blower issue. I have been wanting to cross over. I also have alot of mixed feelings with Dewalt, but it's just on their expansion of their platform. So far, they have done me good, no issues. I have a little blower of Dewalt. I've had it for years and never had an issue. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait and see if they correct these issues to invest. Not all of us are going to be fortunate and have the luxury of Flex sending us tools every time one crashes. So i hope they pick up their game. I did see they came out with a miter saw looks preety slick. That might be the tool that draws me to the dark force. Thanks for the honest review.

It seems like in Europe we are not having the 24V stacked battery technology (yet ?). Only the 18V. But I am sure glad I found Flex, because while I was doing research these last few months, I found, just like you said, that in every major brand battery platform you need a specific battery for a specific tool. WHICH TOTALLY DEFEATS THE EFFING PURPOSE of having a BATTERY PLATFORM. Man, that realisation made me so mad. Because that means, that you need 3 batteries per tool if you want to work continuously, which is a huge investment and a pain to store. As a lone DYIer, who likes to try her hand at repairing and building anything, I only want a limited number of batteries, like 3, that go with all the tools and one fastcharger. I will drink a non alcoholic beer (Jupiler 0.0 are the best) if I need to wait 10 minutes for a battery to charge. Some tools just make sense to have them on cord, as they will use a dust extractor that will also be plugged in and you are already attached to the vacuum hose , like track saw and sanders. But items like a recipricating saw, drills, blowers, multitools, drywall screwdrivers, lights I really just want to be able to use them anywhere without having to plug them in.

Also to add to the point that you mentioned about Flex dominating the battery market in power tools. I completely agree. Chervon (their parent company) KNOWS batteries and charger. I like to say to my coworkers and people online that Dewalt launched stacked batteries first (even tho there was marketing material from Flex showing stacked batteries months before Dewalt launched theirs), Flex perfected it with 3 batteries on launch and Milwaukee copied it.

@@deluxepressure not really. I heard from a guy who had the same problem with makita batteries from HD. Old and high failure rate. I am wondering if they let quality go downhill during the covid era. Perhaps if production of new batteries stoped maybe they were letting failed or marginal batteries through that would have normally been stopped from sale by quality control? My recent flex and hercules batteries are working without issue. Another thing....milwaukee wants way to much for their batteries....they're gouging their customers. The 12ah has only increased in price by $20 but a 2 pack of 6ah batteries is up well over $100 from its previous price. They had a sale on a 2 pack of 8ah recently for just over $300.
