Pro tip: When trying to line your seams up, pinch underneath each armpit where all of the seams meet, and shake the shirt. It will line all your seams up before you cut

Cut accuracy was good, I’d recommend cutting the shirt inside out to get the sides to roll inwards, then after the cut throw it in the dryer briefly

Using the sleeve you cut on the opposite of the shirt as a guide is the game changer. Seen a lot of videos that just eye ball it. I wanted that consistency in the cut. Will definitely give this a try. Thanks for the post.

Dude the fact that it took you over 2 1/2 to explain cutting a shirt before you even started is astounding

I just finished making my cuts. I followed most of your instructions (instead of measuring your way for the arm holes or using the first cut off sleeve as a template for the second, instead as a template I used a top I already have and fits perfect). I did follow the tip of another commenter who recommended turning the shirt inside out before cutting. Thar worked great. In the end the cut is ideal. The fit isn't as flattering as it could be bit also I haven't tossed it into the wash/dryer yet but maybe after that it'll be perfect. One thing I already notice (and something no one else has mentioned yet) is I see I'll definitely need to add a small stitch to the bottom of each arm hole to keep the existing but now cut original seam from unwravelling. Overall this was a kickass tutorial. Thank you!

Awesome! I always wondered how guys got that perfect cut over the shoulders. Mine came out really good. The only thing, is that my scissors were a little dull, so I put a cutting board inside of the shirt, and used a razor blade to shave off the jagged edges. So happy with the results, thankyou for the tutorial!

I just take the stitches apart it takes long but comes out perfectly easy to do with an x-acto knife

I’ve been cutting my tees for years man, soo long ago that back when we use to cut em we would cut them super low and there would be a lot of nip slips cause that was the style. We were trying to show off as much of our teenage tatted body as we could haha. But anyway since those days I’ve cut some perfect muscle tees but with this little finger trick for measuring and setting something heavy on one side while cutting, well now I know I can cut em perfect every time 🤙🙌🔥 Thanks for the video brother, I’m about to cut so many old favorite tees confidently knowing they gone be perfect every time!

Nope. Mine will be slutty. Also don’t get scissors from Home Depot for cutting fabric. Take yourself to a fabric store and get fabric scissors 😂 but don’t cut anything but fabric with them! You’ll ruin them!

I use a $10 rotary cutter and that sumbitch goes through multiple layers of any fabric like butter. Worth the investment if you're altering on the regular! (also makes quick work of packing tape and those god-awful blister packs)

Anyone know of any websites to get cheap graphic t shirts like this for cutoffs and/or workout tees? One recommendation I would make is to turn the shirt inside out when you cut it, helps get the uneven edges to fold in rather than out

what if you have a rotary blade instead of scissors? i've watched multiple tutorials and yes i've used a lot of old t-shirts that dont fit me anymore but they've all came out wrong.

+1 for leaving the sexist word in the cut and showing your own adverse reaction to it instead of taking it out of the final edit. It's brave to show your effort of deconstruction of toxic male behaviors.

Little tip, don't use scissors, rip the shirt from the sleeve seam and then u can tear it down for a more open arm hole, even sides every time

I used to cut the ringer too... I didn't use this technique so some of mine were uneven AF..

I can never get whatever's on the shirt to be centered no matter what I do. Always botch that, somehow, even if measure and mark my top and bottom cuts!
