I love how these videos are put together. So many wanna be youtube lawyers putting out videos giving bad advice on how to handle law enforcement encounters. Finally some videos that are put together well and offer great advice.

Actually not true, if you ask for a lawyer the police have to stop questioning you in relation to any crime. The courts have interpreted the 5th amendment so that if you assert your right to counsel under Miranda the police may not talk to you for 14 days about ANY CRIME. Unless you reinitiate.

It's nice to know the law. I think everyone should know this kind of stuff. Everyone trusts the police officers, but you never know when shit's gonna be thrown your way and the cop won't know anything about it. Back a few years ago, a young intoxicated man was driven out of the city of Saskatoon, was stripped of his clothing, and left in the sub zero temperatures and left to die. He was able to survive and sued them. He pointed out the cops, but they only got 30 DAYS suspension. FLEX YOUR RIGHTS

They can use unreasonable force. Police do that when they feel threatened. I back the blue, but I agree there are some bad cops out there who deserve no place on the force. Just be careful. I've dealt with bad cops, and I've also dealt with good ones. I've been drawn on seven times, cuffed, and searched. But never arrested or cited

I have a couple of questions can they turn off the cameras in their cars,then "anything goes"with them,second a court appointed attorney works for the state and the state is who is bringing you to court so what kind of fair counsel would you get ?

@angryadrien I agree, and that's what I was trying to point out (but I did so poorly because I wrote that at 2 in the morning). Most of these videos are with people who are not even interfering, merely documenting. The problem comes when people are in the face of the officer and trying to make a case out of nothing. I'm not the biggest fan of cops and they do have power trips; however, there are many cases where their filming does interfere and that's all I wanted to point out.

rule #1 never speak to the police. you do NOT need to tell them that you are exercising your right to remain silent, or other rights

incorrect, the supreme court has ruled that you need to explicitly state that you are exercising your right to remain silent. if you do not, they can claim to suspect psychological problems, and bring you to a hospital.

theres a bill passing parliament in Australia that says "you do not have the right to remain silent. anything you dont disclose to us but to your laywer It will be used against you" As for reasonable suspicion, its the same in australia.,

Not too dissimilar to what we’ve currently got in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 It goes like this: “You’re under arrest for/on the suspicion of [state offence here]. You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something that you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.”

Photoshop and other photo editing programs are powerful and fairly easy to use. I guess one way to avoid accusations of "altering" pictures of your injuries would be to videotape the injuries, so when cops or lawyers question the accuracy you can inform them that you do not know how to do CGI effects, and do they really think that the evidence is faked?

Lincoln was a lawyer. He had no pony tail, but he had long hair and a beard. We have a couple of 'never-lose' lawyers where I live who have pony tails. Hell, I once had a PT myself.

@badpanda84 And my point is, an illegal search and seizure is still illegal. Damages and losses incurred while the events took place, is completely on the head of those offending you. Though I know high payouts usually has more attention, this simply doesn't mean a complaint shouldn't be filed because "it wouldn't get any attention". If a particular officer has gotten to many complaints, even out of spite, they will be re-evaluated and possibly taken off duty. One less bad cop on the road.

the way iv got out of alot of police stuff is being polite getting to the.point, if they say there gonna search you and you have stuff on you 1. ask to see the report they must have papers saying they have the right to search people in that area and thry must say the vaold reason 2. be confidant. 3. if they do search try and rake stuff out your pockets and chuck it on the floor make it look like your helping. you can get away for so much for beibg polite stright to point and quick thinking
