Here in the UK I couldn't agree more about SISU - a fun-filled violent rollercoaster of a movie!

I'm an American living in Finland and I saw SISU in the movie theater when it was first released here..... I truly loved this movie and was recommending it to all my friends in America. It has become one of my favorite movies and I am waiting for it to come to Netflix.

Renfield. My expectations were pretty low, but I was definitely surprised at how entertaining it was.

I did not know what to expect going into Sisu. I believe I heard about it on a podcast I was listening to and the podcaster said to go in to the film, blind, not watching the trailer. Glad I did. Definitely my favorite flick of the year.

Great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. I agree with you 100% on John Wick 4 and as for SISU. An absolutely awesome film, like you said scene for scene, just amazing. SISU is an awesome film with interesting characters and a unique story! A friend of mine bought it a couple months back and couldn't stop talking about it. I said that it sounded interesting. So, she insisted that I take it home and watch it. I was hooked in from the start and blown away within the first 30 minutes. It's a very intense movie set during WWII and pretty gory!👍🏼 Again, this is another foreign film doing it better than what is the dumpster fire that is current Hollywood!

Other great 2023 movies I recommend are Sound Of Freedom, Guy Ritchie's The Covenant, The Offering, Freelance, The Cobweb, The Last Voyage Of The Demeter and Tetris.

The premise at the end of Godzilla Minus One was ridiculous. I agree with you about SISU. That is a movie that Clint Eastwood might have made in the 1970s if he could have. The script, the acting, and the direction were all very tight. One of the best action films I have seen in a while, and it will be ignored by the media and the award societies.

I've been recommending Sisu, absolutely loved this film. 2 other films on this list I've got waiting to be watched (7 & 2).

When my son was 7, I took him and a family friend who was 12 to see Pacific Rim. We *almost* had to leave during a certain scene (if you've seen the movie, you know which one), but I convinced them to stay. Both of them have since admitted it was the most fun they've had in a theater! :)

Past Lives. One of the most emotional movies I’ve ever seen in my life. The kind you find yourself thinking about months after watching

I really want a serious dungeons and dragons movies. Not just a comedic action. The stories are on par to TLoTR

Ballerina is great i totally recommend it....i`d also recommend a couple more Korean films that were released this year... Kill Bok Soon The Killer:The Girl Meant To Die All three have some similar themes and could all be set in the same world ...full of great acting plus the scripts are great all the are full of violence that only Korean films seem to be able to do well(though John Wick comes close)

I saw the trailer for Sisu when I saw John Wick 4 in theaters. I wanted to see it immediately. When it came out, I was blown away. One of the best of 2023, imo.

SISU was my greatest surprise this year and a highly enjoyable ride a touch of early Mad Max in there- but highly recommended- excellent film!

Sisu was one of the best movies I’ve seen all year too! So good! I saw it when it first came out and it was amazing! And I also loved Ballerina, chefs kiss!

The live action version of One Piece was a major surprise for me. I'm not usually a manga fan, but the characters are over the top in a fun way and just so likeable.

Yep, SISU is by far the most thrillingly entertaining film I've seen this year. Inventive, gloriously visceral, and a wonderfully tight runtime. Bonus point for the dog, a very good dog.

Blue eyed samurai, animated series, on netflix, is amazing, both storyline and outstanding visuals. I'm not an anime fan usually, but this is one of the best things netflix has done.

Black berry, Sisu, Talk to Me are must see! Also "Finestkind" was good!

Personally I saw John Wick 4's 'overly long' to be effective in conveying just how tired he is by the end of it. Been binging your back catalog for the last couple weeks and it's been great stuff. Would be curious to see some lists for animated films and 'so bad it's good' films.

I have lots of trouble putting on a new movie, finding something of quality that isn't the generic hollywood movie, I'm at the stage where I don't really watch movies anymore unless they are suggested to me as good movies. Could be a fluke thing with the kiddo. I loved the M.J. Fox movie called "The Frighteners" (I think) and one night for some reason it scared the hell out of me. Was watching it a week a later. I am from the VCR era, for the young ones we didnt have the internet back then, so you watched a lot of stuff more than once.

Sisu and the magic trash can. He's holding up a metal circle that covers about 1/3 of his body. The Nazis hit that magic plate about 150 times with automatic fire and not one shell touches the lower half of his body. There is so much awesome in this movie, but scenes like that really let me down. All they had to do to fix that scene was have him retreating down a slope or ditch side where you could reasonably block a significant amount of incoming fire. You'd never be able to hold the stupid thing anyways as that many rounds were hitting it, but whatever. The eagles never caught fire in Mt. Doom, either, and we all loved that, too.

Dude "Talk To Me" was exceptionally good! I have had the hardest time finding thriller and or horror movies or even series that can actually make me feel.I got what I wanted from it. The last one I saw that I liked was "Murder in the Heartland". That's exactly the komd of movie that sticks with me. Of you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend "Talk to Me" Oh and "Leave the World Behind" was great too. Along with "The Fall" and "Men". But if you're reading this and you have a movie, or movies that you love please reply to this comment. I'm stuck surfing the streaming platforms snd finding absolutely nothing to watch. I like more realistic stuff and not ghost (bump in the night) or supernatural types of horror. Anything from the Peanut Gallery? Please! ,

If you like "Sisu" You must watch "Blood and Gold" (2023, Germany). This film about WWII, brutal action movie, a bit like "Inglourious Bastards". I love this movie and recommend you)

Renfield and South Korea's The Witch Trilogy - Part 3 coming in '24. And a little comedy/horror called Deadstream. Not since Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil have I laughed so hard. I'm patiently waiting for Becky's third installment. Think Buffy without the monsters.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who really enjoyed "Plane". It was a great little move. I'd never even heard of it being marketed. And the title... pretty low effort. The the movie was really good.

For instance, Jeon Jong-seo (star of Ballerina) is pronounced like this: Jun (hard J, rhymes with "fun") Jong (hard J, rhymes with "song") Seo (rhymes with "ugh"). I hope this helps for future content!!

I watch movies to get away from reality. Some people use drugs and other drink alcohol, I love movies. One thing that I don't want to have to do when watching a movie???? It's having to read the screen and try to watch at the Sametime. So Godzilla Minus One lost me at the very beginning. Plus I had my 10 year old son with me and trying to read this out loud for him, people didn't fare for it at the movies. So we left after 10 minutes or so.

SISU was a great movie and it was great to see the same team as Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale getting back to together. Darren if you have not seen Rare Exports then you need to give it a watch.

Anatomy of a Fall is on my list also. Didn't know about American Fiction. I've never teared up during any Godzilla movies, but then along comes one of the best, Godzilla Minus One. Mia Goth is Queen. I saw John Wick 4, Talk To Me, D&D, Infinity Pool, and Sisu in the theaters. Yup, thumbs up to all. Just watched Sideways, American Splendor, and The Holdovers. So I need a They Cloned Tyrone movie. Then I'll get to the rest. happy holidays.

Excellent 2023 list DVD. I would have to include 2 more horror films as that is one of my particular genres (along with action, adventure, and survival). No One Will Save You and When Evil Lurks. Both of these movies blew me away. No One is extremely fresh and different and Evil Lurks is a shoestring budget film out of Argentina which is also fresh and original with some scenes that are so shocking that I can't get them out of my mind, one being an ax attack and the other is a dog attack. Both are done in a way that has never been seen before any where. The movie Sisu is a Complete Monster of a Movie and is all practical effects and is so fresh and original. Amazing No. 1 pick. I have to watch again as I want to double check that that great little dog is with him at the bank. Also, I have seen Dungeons and Dragons twice now and I could watch a third any time. Great surprise movie. It was recommended to me by a teenage boy in line next to me in the grocery store. He had just seen it and just wanted to tell someone else how good it was. His buddies with him all agreed. Plane was also a nice surprise that I have watched twice so far.

Ummm. Well I haven’t seen SISU. But I am very intrigued to see it and definitely going to watch it this weekend to find out why u put that over Ballerina!! 😢🤨
