The entire cast of this show is just amazing, from the incredibly hot Eva Green, to the criminally underrated Billie Piper. This show is becoming one of my favorites. Wish it was streamable on NetFlix, though.

What a fantastic panel! It was so interesting to listen to John Logan explaining how he created the Penny Dreadful world. And all the guys are gorgeous too. They give a great insight into their characters and It's fascinating to listen how they construct those characters and how much work goes into the whole research and understanding process. Plus can I just add that Josh Hartnett is beyond beautiful and really funny! I love them all!

This is everything a panel discussion should be and more, thank you for posting, I love this- it would have been more in line with something on NPR or a University panel than Comic Con. Everyone including Aisha the moderator did such a fantastic job and everyone elevated the discussion so much- I love that the audience also seemed to ask John Logan more questions than anyone else- such a literary and philosophical treatise practically instead of something at Comic Con! Usually the panels are just sycophantic "woooooo look who's on stage woooooo i love the show" random audience scream and clap fests. This was great and worthy and such a novel concept- a panel at CC with something to actually sink your teeth into rather than just a string of "spoiler alerts", thanks again.

Still hurts to imagine that John Logan planned this show for freaking ten years, and stopped with three seasons. There's definitely so much to the story. And I believe Vanessa dying was only an excuse to end with only three seasons. Would've been huge by now if they continued.

Both Green and Hartnett signed on for only 3 seasons. They had committed to other projects after that. Logan also said the network cancelled any more because viewership was not large enough to cover costs of those elaborate production values. Game of Thrones siphoned off a lot of viewers. IMO going on with the story shifting focus from Vanessa and Ethan to the others would fail. Look what happened to the sequel.

John Logan has written a masterpiece with this show. I hope someday someone would give to it the credit really it deserves. A lot of rewards have been dennied to Penny Dreadful and is the only original , breaker show in years, mixing all the horror, the darkness and the victorian literary background & the description of the horrible world in what we have to live.

I binged this because of the writing on Netflix. John Logan picked just the right actors to reflect his writing to get even more in depth. Bring this back Logan on Netflix! I'm hungry for JL' creativity.

I just recently discovered this show. Saw it on Netflix & was intrigued by the concept which I thought was insanely interesting. Watched the first episode & before I knew it I was done with Season 3! Not for everyone though - for some people the pacing & dialogue might not be their cup of tea, but for me crazy good IMHO! But beyond the great writing, I can't imagine a more brilliant cast to breathe life to the whole story. And thanks to this show I learned about Dorian Gray! I had to google who this character is, and then of course, the actor who played him so mesmerizingly!

As Mr. Logan explained it, it sounded a bit to me like his excuse for the sexual adventure of Penny Dreadful is "Well, I'm gay, so how could I NOT?" Yes, the Victorian era was sexually oppressed, and therefore VERY sexual (what you can't kill makes IT stronger, right?) but puh-leeeez... Penny Dreadful is so much more than a series of sexual combinations. It's built up a head of steam, tantalizing us with what we don't know about the characters. I hope all that doesn't get diluted by the cheap wine of sexual escapade after escapade.

+HOusEoFsiERRa Lol, the menstrual cycles of women typically follow the cycle of the moon, hence why the moon is often assigned female characteristics in mythology and religion; there are a lot of moon goddesses and such. There are some moon gods, but typically the moon is feminine, such as the Triple Goddess of Wicca, or Artemis/Diana of Greco-Roman mythology. Lol you can probably tell from my name, but this is kind of my thing :P

I know I am TOTALLY in the minority with this, and i know its part of the genre, but i wish i could have somehow seen a version of this show that atleast didn't show the overt sexuality. Maybe imply it without necessarily showing everything. It can be very triggering. I do understand there is an art to it. But I am a spiritual person, who also has a triggering past, but the whole story line and script was so enthralling and addicting. i lived with the nightmares for a while just because the show is so addictive and beautiful in some ways, but i guess when even the light is dark (which is see now is one of the themes), i just can't handle it. I wish I could have watched the series, but would have to find a PG version. Y'all please don't hate me for that. I hope I stated what I felt without being offensive.

What can we expect from a Godless director like John Logan, who even included in the script the burning of a Cross, which is a blasphemy, none of the actors are believers, maybe Josh Hartnett, but what astonishes me the most, is the lack of true knowledge of Victorian literature and history, which was totally distorted in the scripts, even Dorian Gray, the actor Reeve Carney, didn't read the book, which is a classic that I did read when I was in School and even plenty of times more, like Lady Windermere's fan and all the works of Oscar Wilde. According with The Telegraph, few of these actors had enough culture and formation to represent Victorian characters. Regarding the actors, Josh Hartnett is not only a fantastic one, a quite simple, humble, very smart indeed, with lots of charisma, he maybe one of the few that took his work more seriously, in spite of not being a "British gentleman". The Director spoke plenty of times of his gay condition, was so necessary to make such emphasis? I believe not at all. Everybody knows that he isn’t in any closet, so why to express such pride about his sexuality? I cannot find the answer, maybe Freud, Jung and Victor Frankl can explain better why Logan needs to talk all the time that he is gay, as he was saying that he is a lawyer or a historian or whatever. Penny Dreadful was good, but some scenes are really awful, disgusting and almost immoral, as I said previously didn't represent Victorian or even Edwardian England.
