I remember this one time when I was in a Air France flight and I overheard the conversation between two flight attendants while I was waiting for the toilet. Apparently a passenger had been very rude to one of them and threw their glass of water at her face. I felt so bad for her I reached out to her and said "Hey I'm sorry for interrupting you, I overheard your conversation and I just wanted to tell you I'm so sorry for you. I know how hard your job can be sometimes, but I'm sure you're doing your best and you have my support!" You could tell I caught her off-guard, she had a mask on but her eyes showed she had a sweet, sincere smile on, and her eyes were wet, almost teary. She thanked me and asked me if I had a relative who was cabin crew and answered that I didn't but I had done some researches about this job. When the plane landed and I got off, she said goodbye to everyone and when it was my turn, she added "... And have an amazing day". Such a good memory and I hope she got nicer passengers after that 😊

I would give Lindsay a raise. In another lifetime ago, I used to work retail and teen kids would use the display tables as if they were tables at the food court. I would tell them nicely that the table is not meant for loitering, it’s a display table for customers to look at. But they look at me like I am ruining their fun. After a awhile I would just chase them out or call security. But the security guard at the store couldn’t care less. I guess I interrupted the guys nap or TV show (He supposedly monitors the security cameras but does absolutely nothing). That is not the only thing that happened. I had a lady changing her baby’s diaper on sample mattress that potential buyers lay on. I told her that there was a restroom not far away and she looked at me as if I was being a creep staring at her. Seriously we need more Lindsays.

This is an easy complaint to contest: “Yes as per my prior write up I decided to be more accommodating. The passenger was visibly upset so I gave her the can without hesitation. Unfortunately, this is a plane and the cans were bound to have been shaken around quite a bit.” As the airline, what are you going to do? Absolutely worth it.

It must require so much self-control to stay calm and nice in situations in which you're faced with either a rude or an exceptionally dumb passenger... or an even worse combination of the two. Mad respect for the cabin crew, they just want to do their job well... some passengers really need to learn some manners. Only because you paid for the flight doesn't mean you can treat the cabin crew like crap.

As an airline captain, I can confirm how difficult the job can be for the flight attendants. Dealing with arrogant and disrespectful passengers is no joke. I could not do it. Not only they have to take sh*t from passengers but also from some a@@hole captains. It really upsets me to witness this kind of behaviour. I sincerely think they deserve more recognition and respect.

Never worked flight crew but I have worked customer service. I once got a complaint filed against me for not being polite and smiling when checking out a customer. I was told of the complain the following day and didn't find out which customer it was, so I don't know if I actually smiled or not, but I do know it was after the mask mandate so my face was covered and I am not sure what difference it would have made.
