I also have some tips as I used to clean hotels! 1. Don't use the comforter as it never gets washed! 2. Dont use the ice machine! 3. Dont use the ice bucket or the glass cups in the room most of the time they only get rinsed off in the bathroom and dried! 4. Best to keep luggages in the bathtub to avoid any bedbugs as bed bugs have been even found in the nicest hotels! 5. Don't roam the halls by yourself walk with a buddy if possible! With hotels you never know whos coming in or out of them people who are not staying at the hotel could just randomly walk right in!

That lock on the door is not a "deadbolt" by any means. I've seen a video on how very easily that type of lock can be opened from the outside. Your best bet is to travel with what's called a *door security bar.* It's lightweight even though they're made of steel, it's adjustable to fit doors of various sizes, and it's retractable so it can be made smaller to fit into your luggage. I will DEFINITELY be traveling with one of those ever since I saw a video where a woman had a man trying to come into she and her friend's hotel room with a key all because the man at the front desk actually sold him a key to their room.

That extra lock saved me from an aggressive hotel security guard when the hotel thought I was a squatter. They had recorded my room incorrectly and when I called for a wake up call they thought I was a squatter. They sent security up (I was now asleep) who used their key but could not open the door due to the bolt lock. I was surprised awake and he’s screaming at me to open the door. I called the front desk and worked it out over the phone WHILE he’s banging on the door and screaming at me. At some point they radioed him and he went quiet and eventually left. He came back a few minutes later and profusely apologized. I had a few words with him but accepted his apology. He was just a bit too anxious to catch a squatter. It was a business trip too!

Hi. I am a tour bus driver. The coat hanger hack on the curtains is awesome. Never thought of that. I carry coated paper clips and have used those. First thing I do is lift mattress and pull back the curtains to check for bed bugs. As a man I remove the towels from above the toilet. I imagine stuff splashing up on my towels. I also stick toilet paper in the peephole. A bath towel at the bottom of the door keeps the hall lights out. Safe travels and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! I am sure you are working as I am.

I take sticky alarms with me that has one part stick on the door and one on the wall and when they come apart due to the door opening the alarm goes off, this way if anyone opens the door at night while I am sleeping it would ring the alarm really loudly for everyone to hear. Use water to remove the stickiness left behind when you take it off and your good to go.

Im for real surprised that so many people are worried about security. Hotels have CCTV and security guards everywhere, I feel 100 % safe when I’m on hotel ground. Of course I lock my door when I go out but that’s literally everything I do.

@@vivalavivaldi I've stayed at hotels around the world in my previous career and stayed at very sketchy hotels with crazy things happening like someone trying to break in forcefully at night. The cameras might see them but a door stopper or alarm might stop them and save your life.

All great tips. One thing is for sure, traveling alone on "a budget"...because FA's don't make a lot....you learn to be frugal and that leads to creative solutions, and especially if you're flying international and land as the sun is coming up. Heck YES to those pant hanger clips being a lifesaver. lol

Some good ideas, but is she on something? No rational person gets THAT enthused by passing on simple tips! She’s not saved a life, in combat or scored a goal in a World Cup final! Calm down Stella it’s all fine. 😀

I'm not sure I would want to be served by someone who thinks locking her door is a hack... or putting all the pillows on one bed is a hack... People will post anything for the desperate need for attention from nobodies on their social media accounts.

Great tips overall. Let's consider a little empathy for the staff. If everyone used all the pillows, think about the waste of resources... additional work for the staff, additional detergent that would add up over the days/weeks/months/years, eventually polluting the ecosystem, additional consumption of water & hydro....

I'm pretty sure they have to clean the other bed no matter if it was used or not if someone stayed in that room

No we don't 😅 If it isn't used we leave it. We only do it when someone has slept in it (or has put his stupid suitcase on it...) definitely saves time and the guest doesn't notice any difference 😅

It doesn't matter if you have one or two beds if you're alone... even if you booked a king bed, you already have all the pillows for two sleepers on one bed. It's the best!

Touring roadie tip- if you've lost or forgotten the wall plug for charger, use the USB port on tv or stereo to charge phone . I always carry two larger cables but usually only one wall plug adapter, tip 2 some showers are super slippery due to tiles, if so and your tired put a towel on the shower floor and create a non slip surface, working a 20 hour day and dealing with slippery surfaces is hell. If you dont have floss left, use the sewing kit thread usually in hotels with the " extras" they leave in bathroom .
