Part two begins with more technical information and we use FAA Handbook 8083-25B for reference.
This video is intended for all flight simulators by focusing on the real world systems and their application to simulated aircraft.
How does a change in power affect trim if we want to maintain level flight? When and why do we adjust the fuel mixture and what are the benefits of doing so? Do flaps let me land slower, steeper or both? What is pitot and carb heat and why is it on the some aircraft and not others? We try to answer these!
For Flight Simulation use only.

I seem to always be adjusting my vertical trim using the 7 and 1 keys to find the absolute zero so i am not constantly gaining or losing altitude. Is there any function to set the trim so that it is at true zero? I use a keyboard and xbox 360 controller. Thanks for your help!

yeehaww unless you are on autopilot, you will be adjusting trim from time to time, and in sim it feels nearly constant. In the real world, you’re allowed a little altitude margin for this and the naturally occurring air currents. Trim will change with airspeed and configuration, so 0 doesn’t really matter, it just gives you a reference.

Hi stefzac9. Do you use Facebook or Instagram? That would be a better platform for us to share the hangar pics. Regarding add-ons, there are two if us and we have some different things. Each of us has some freeware custom scenery, and the link is always in the vid description of shown. I have some Ortho for Arizona, and Lee has some for Florida. Other than that, we have a few plugins like LiveTraffic and Better Pushback.

Cool. We're flightft2019 on Instagram. I'll try to out my hangar (Tim) up. Lee has most of the same aircraft, plus a few I don't and minus a few I do.

Sorry I had to dislike this one guys and I normally like all you videos. If you want some details as to why, I would be happy to provide additional information. Or you can just delete this if you prefer. Cheers.

Sorry to hear that, and we welcome all feedback pro or con (we only delete profanity and off-topic comments). If you would take time to elaborate, we will certainly take your input into consideration as we make future content.

@@FlightBrothersFT Thanks I am glad my feedback was taken the way it was intended. I did watch it again before writing this and to be honest it was okay. That said here are a few items I noted. When discussing the trim tabs I think it would have made sense to discuss the three main control surfaces i.e. rudder, ailerons and elevators and how they are controlled, i.e. pedals and yoke, in a bit more detail. Specifically the elevators and their purpose and how the trim tabs are a part of that function in a smaller degree. Also, someone trying to understand what trim tabs do would have benefited from a picture showing the three control surfaces and their relation to yaw, roll and pitch. Then the discussion about trim tabs would have made more sense I think. I have the KS 350 and agree it does not show much movement of the trim tab on the elevator....sort of odd I admit. Showing the elevator movement might have helped in that shot though and a few more close ups of the trim wheel showing the changes made to maintain level flight or ascent/decent. The section on fuel mixture was pretty good. Not many out there explaining this and the function of the EGT and relation to fuel flow and RPM. Might have been more than a beginner would need, but I appreciated it. Anyway, like I said I find your videos very helpful. The one on FMS programming was really well done. I look forward to seeing more. Videos on navigation are always appreciated. Understanding VORs, NDBs and ILS approaches is confusing so clarifying that relative to the GPS and FMS on GA aircraft would be good. Take care, AE

@Alan thanks again for the detailed write up. To be honest, I (Lee) intentionally have not brought up the major control surfaces. I couldn’t come up with a way, in my own mind, to present the major control surfaces in an interesting manner. I guess it could be easily done with a brief clip. I think your suggestion regarding the trim does have merit and appreciate it. Regarding the navigation equipment and concepts, what do you think would add value? We’ve done the 727 in a livestream with VOR, and some flight plan loading/planning in a Cessna cross country and Cirrus Vision. Tim has done a few videos on the airline side with flight planning too. We try to offer a diverse selection of content, but are very happy to address what the viewers would like to see! There’s always the next video! We currently have two in production for this channel, and have one in production and one more in concept for FSElite.net. Thanks again for taking the time to respond and improve what we do here on FBFT.
