I remembered this theme vividly! I hadn't heard it since childhood before they used it again on the DVD set and Boomerang. They only had it for the first 2 seasons of The Flintstones - and not at all when it was syndicated! It was nice to hear the original theme again after so many decades! :)

I thought they only had the theme for a few months. There was a rumor that it sounded like the "Overture" tune from The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show. ABC and Hanna Barbera were afraid Warner Brothers was going to sue them.

I don't know if I'm right or not, but I believe that, for the most part, this music was used for the season four, (1964-1965), season of Hazel. Both Hazel and The Flinstones were distributed .and in some way, associated with Screen Gems. Correct me if I am wrong.

I didn't think ABC started broadcasting in COLOR until the mid-60's!

+Dan Barlow I don't know about that, but Hanna-Barbera always made their cartoons and animated series in color, but a lot of ABC affiliates didn't show THE FLINSTONES in color for the first 2 seasons because they didn't have the capability to broadcast in color yet.

star trek that make's sense. When making the cartoon's it only stands to reason they would go ahead and color them!

As for Atlanta, if this were to air again, it would have to be WSB-TV Channel 2. Right?

Depends on when WSB was an ABC affiliate. I thought WSB and WXIA swapped networks in 1980.
