Which is better when you have two classes studying the same subject: setting up Groups? or naming the Topic using the name of the Class i.e. Ms. Smith's 8:00 class.

Hi Mary Beth! Thanks for watching. Either way you described will work. I think it is a matter of preference. I usually like to keep classes separated. So, I create a Group for each class. It is then easy to duplicate topics across different groups.

Hi Francia! Thanks for watching and commenting. I am glad you found what you are looking for. Flipgrid released a bunch of new updates a few days ago. One of those updates is that "grids" are now called "groups." So, anytime you hear me say "grid" in this video series, know that I am now referring to groups. We are putting together a video with all the information about the updates made to Flipgrid. That should be posted to my channel by the end of the week. Make sure you are subscribed to my channel so that the update video will show up in your feed.

So, you would go about setting everything up the same way I showed you in the video. Just know that when I say "grid" it the same as "group." Hi, I love your step by step instructions! I've set up a Grid to use with my other primary teachers as a test. I've reviewed this video several times and keep clicking around in Flipgrid, but I don't see how I add people to my grid. Is it only by copying the link and then emailing it to them? I know I can add it to Google Classroom, but I do not know my students yet. Thought I would try it first with the other primary teachers. Thanks so much! ~ Amy D.

Thank you for your videos. They are great. I have a couple questions though. If I create a group and I have a new topic each week for students, do I have to recreate the group list of names every time? Or does the class list of names stay. Also, do I have to send out a new link to the topic each time? Thanks.
@Vestals21stCenturyClassroom
@Vestals21stCenturyClassroom 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! Thanks for watching. After you create a group, that group will remain a part of your dashboard, so you can just create a new topic and assign it to that group. As for the topic link, you can choose to send out the link every time or you can make sure students have access to the group. Then, when students log into the group, they can see what topics are available. We have a whole series about using Flipgrid here on the channel. It has lots of tip, tricks, and strategies for using Flipgrid. You can find all of the videos in that series here: kzfaq.info/sun/PLB-K_ncZLdiMP-SqzPv_YbC5ee1KaRrh9

Hi! Thanks for watching. When creating your topic, turn moderation on. This will make it so that only you and the student can see the video unless you approve it for everyone to see. If you don't want the other students to see, just don't approve the videos. You can learn more about this setting by watching the following Flipgrid video and going to 4:42: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r512Z9qrs8jHp40.html

Hi Aaron! Thanks for watching. No, students do not necessarily need an email account to join. You can also create student usernames and have them join that way OR they can join with a share code. We provided some additional information about different ways to add students in a recent Flipgrid update video, which you can find here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mdKne85krau7ZKs.html You can also find more information about sharing a topic with students on the Flipgrid help site, which can be found here: help.flipgrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013291553-Sharing-a-Topic-or-Group-with-students I hope these resources are helpful!

How would I use Flipgrid for an open house where each teachers makes a video?
@Vestals21stCenturyClassroom
@Vestals21stCenturyClassroom 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tonia! Thanks for watching. There are a few ways you could use Flipgrid for an open house, depending on the expectations your school has in place for a virtual open house. You could create a topic where you introduce yourself and the expectations for the school year. Then, have families respond by sharing about themselves. You could also create a topic where you allow students and families to respond by asking questions they have about the school year. If you are just wanting to record a video and not have students/families respond, be sure to check out the new Flipgrid Shorts feature. I made a video about it, which you can find here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f7KYn5OisLDad5c.html Hope these ideas help and good luck with back to school!
