Using a transmission, I've designed a compact but competitive robot for First Lego League that can drive 4 powered attachments using just 2 motors. This is a variation of the Orka concept robot. The Quadbot does not have nearly the functionality of the Orka but it is significantly smaller and easier to build.
I have designed a newer version of this and made some minor improvements. I've posted the build instructions on Rebrickable. Please let me know if you are able to build this from the given instructions. It is very challenging.

Traduzir textos com a câmera How did you do the transmission from gear to gear in the lower red gear?

The only disadvantage is that you cannot make several movements at the same time.

The compact design here is really impressive. Still not entirely sure how you managed to pack it all in!

Would you be able to raise up the hub a stud in order to route some of the wires underneath to help with management?
@WilliamFrantz

The problem is the gears. I need to route the cables around the gearbox because I don't think I can route through it.

@@WilliamFrantz I have been thinking about how to manage the wire, doesn't look like there is an easy solution.

Can you tell us the steps on how to make this robot? Our team wants to try out this robot. We think it’s a very good idea and think it will be good for us.

Am I right to think that the four outputs can only be driven in one direction?
@WilliamFrantz
@WilliamFrantz 3 ай бұрын
No, they are all bidirectional. For some reason I just didn't think to demonstrate that.

Hi I have a problem; My robot pulls slightly to the right when I drive it. Does anyone know how to fix this issue. My gues is that the wheel bearings have a lot of friction
@WilliamFrantz

A bot can drag to one side for a variety of reasons. It might be off balance if it is pushing or carrying something heavy. There might be something dragging against a wheel, like a loose wire. Or it might be "poorly matched" motors that turn at different speeds. In any event, you should use the gyro sensor to correct for all these problems if you can't fix them directly.

@@WilliamFrantzthe 4 motor rule
@WilliamFrantz
@WilliamFrantz 2 ай бұрын
@@daltynbreyer2499 This bot only uses 4 motors. That's the point of this design. There are two motors to drive the wheels, one motor to shift the transmission, and the last motor to drive the selected out. That's how this bot can drive 4 distinct outputs using only two motors.

Love the video, i have one question about the design. Due to the drop on attachments, not being secured by anything, would they be suitable for missions on the FLL board that require objects to be pushed down. For example, this season on the masterpiece board, i cant imagine this robot being able to complete the theatre scene change as the attachment would just lift off while pushing down the orange bar, would there be a way to secure the attachments? Hope that makes sense!
@WilliamFrantz
@WilliamFrantz 3 ай бұрын
That's a tradeoff for drop on attachments. It can be difficult to "push down" on mission models that require that. However, you could use pins instead of axles. That would make it more difficult to "drop on" but could also provide more connection strength. You could also design an attachment that includes some type of horizontal bolt that you can engage after doing on the attachment.
