I'm going away for a week on the Norfolk Broads in October with my girlfriend and we're going to try fishing there for the first time (at least since I was a kid!). Great video which I'll be sure to save, thank you. Just a quick question, if we were to try night fishing, are your standard waggler floats 'glow in the dark' or is there something else we need to be able to see them at night?

Hi Sam. No, my floats are for daytime use only. In my Dim and Distant past however, I have illuminated them from the bank with a torch. You might also wish to consider Glow Sticks. These devices are small plastic tubes which attach to the top of Wagglers and 'Glow' at night. hers's a link to a site I found: www.glowsticks.co.uk/small-glow-sticks.html You may also find these things in your local tackle shop if you ask them.

Good video Den but i think you need to tighten your clutch because when you wind the reel while the clutch is going like that it really kinks your line up.

Your right Derek, winding against a slipping clutch does exactly that. (Line twist). The problem is that Mullet take off much faster than Carp, so it can be problematic getting the balance right. I tend to adjust the clutch as I go through the session to take account of how big and how fast the fish are, but I don't always get it right.

Does anyone over there use pearl barley over there for bait cooked in a flask of boiling water over night?

No mate. it's pretty much just Sweetcorn and Bread with a few worms on odd occasions. Maggots do exist, but they are expensive.

I thought a loaded waggled was so no shot was needed , not for casting...?

Thanks for your question. The loading in these types of wagglers, serves a number of purposes. It concentrates the loading in the base of the float so it casts more like a dart and therefore provides greater distance. The second is that it reduces the need to have large amounts of split shot on the line immediately below the float, which can reduce distance and increase the possibility of tangles and of damaging the line. The reason that there is an allowance for a small amount of shot to be placed down the line is to control the rate of fall of the bait through the water. These shots can also be used to fish overdepth. In these circumstances you can drag one of two shots along the bottom which has the effect of slowing down the bait as it gets pulled through your swim when there is an undertow caused by wind.

Why do you keep using your teeth to bite off tag ends of line then spit it in to the surrounding ground. Isn’t this a bad example?

Hi Den I have spoken with my partner who I am starting a float company early next year , our range will be mainly for F1 fishing , would you be interested in trying some out on your channel,we would value your honest opinion good or bad and we would offer you a box of 25 for our thanks,early January I would have the final float ready,cheers Neil P.s. we would send to you via your local tackle shop if they would be okay with that

I would be more than happy to give them a try out for you Neil. Thanks for your offer. Sending them to my local tackle shop wouldn't work though. Over here, they have zero interest in our style of fishing or of catching Carp. I understand you may be thinking of doing that as a marketing opportunity, but I'm afraid the only floats you can buy over here are usually massive and designed for a Sea Fish known as a Blackfish. That's why I make all my own floats. The only people interested would be the Expat community and we are based all over Australia. Sorry to put something of a Downer on your plan, but I don't think there would be enough of a market here to help you progress. Most of us Expats buy our tackle from the UK via Billy Clarke Fishing Tackle in Sheffield. They are one of very few shops who ship kit to OZ.

@@FishingwithDen Hi Den , no problem , I will get back to you when there ready and get them to you, thank you for your offer ,I have a few other channels over here that have offered to use them, my main objective is for accomplished anglers to offer there input so we can then put out a set of floats that everyone can use as you know f1s can drive you mad , I now only use up to 4x12s in open water even in 6 ft of water with back shot and great results , I'll get back to you Den when we are ready this end ,cheers
