Yeah, it is difficult to get it level. Usually when I install them I start the mortises in exactly the same distance from the top so that you can mark a level line and put a screw in at each one and it will be level. The person I made them for hung then herself. She said hanging them was a pain in the butt, haha.

I leave my keyhole hangers just proud of the back then hold it on the wall to level it and just use my hand to bump the board and leave a small indentation on the drywall. Put in the screws and your down in time for a cold one and a kiss from the wife! Easy!

Haha, it seems like ever since I moved, it's been harder to commit time to woodworking. Not really sure why. But I am feeling pretty ecxited about some of the things I have to make coming up over the next few months.

Chris McDowell | CMR Woodworks i hear ya on that after I got back from A2 week vacation it took me almost two weeks just to get motivated to even go down into the shop there was so much more other stuff going on but now I'm back in the groove and it's good to be back into the swing of things and I look forward to seeing what you got plan bro

Thanks! I think I just bought two 8 feet 2x4's and trimmed them to what I needed. Wood glue and screws to hold everything together. The key hole hangers can be bought at Lowe's or Home Depot.

I meant to say that I bought two 8 feet 1x4‘s. Not 2x4‘s.

It's a very effective alternative :)
