Hello, I am from Ohio in the States. I am having a great time watching your vlogs. I also enjoy terms you use that I have never heard for example Fran said, "We met up for a cup of tea and a long chin wag." Your soapstones are the first I have ever heard of those. Also another term "Gorgeous" Your plants are coming along Gorgeously. Another term I have never heard used I am positive we use words you have never heard.

Love how you highlight the canals you've travelled. We don't have a canal boat but do lots of driving holidays in Europe. We have a map of Europe with all the trips we've done highlighted in exactly the same way! We look at it when we're planning our next trip to see where we want to revisit and the new places we want to go to.

Really lovely scenery and l find the old stone/brickwork on the bridges and locks fascinating,the amount of sweat and tears that must have gone into every one, especially when a lot would have been in relatively remote areas back when they were built is something to admire.When we did the canal trip in France we loved that many areas had tunnel like cover over the canals from the tree's to sit have a sundowner on the summer evenings.The dogs look like they have settled into boat life now ,they must be loving the new ground to explore every few days,hope the knee comes good Rich.Happy Cruisn

Patent listing detector - a tin of Winalot (other dog foods are available). Place it on the floor aligned fore and aft and see which way it rolls. When you have righted the trim of your boat it makes a nourishing meal for the crew.

Enjoying it all so far, your living finally your best life, and im so pleased for you both. Rich falling into the canal off his bike must of been scary for the both of you. You need a backpack Rich to carry things in when your cycling, and maybe a life belt!! 🥰👍🥰

There is a diamond shaped lock on the river Avon at Wyre Piddle which is between Pershore and Evesham in words, but it's not known why it's the shape it is.

Hi Rich, Thank you for the map, it really helps to see where you two have been cruising, And puts it all in to perspective I did not realise how large the canal system is. I shall be following your yellow highlighter pen from now Just one small point Rich, The comment about the T & G is correct, if you don't paint or vanish both sides it could bow even. Love the country side that you are cruising through at the moment, beats city life any time. Regards Barry , Napier 🇳🇿🇳🇿

How relaxed do you both look since being on the boat full time. Is that a tip basket on the roof by the helm? You could get kids to try and throw money into it from the bank, winners gets a prize, now that would bring in a few pennies...........Lovely video, stay cool and looking forward to more adventures!

Howard Eastman Thanks Howard, we are relaxed now. Great idea about the money in the basket game. Especially if we pose a cute dog by the side. Winners get to walk the dog then we win again!!!😄 Thank you as always for your support Fran

I live just down the road from Lechlade. We had a boat a few years back and it’s a beautiful stretch of river. If you moor as close as you can to the round house you can take a nice walk to see Inglesham church. It’s so old. There is also a nice riverside pub and chip shop in Lechlade and you must visit the Christmas shop! Hope your knee is better Rich and must say what a great job Fran is doing in steering. I was always in charge of the locks on our boat ps ordered some soap nuts today! Best wishes from Paula 😀

The lock is a diamond lock only two in in England and the other one is on River Avon at wire pedal just outside Pershore
@seanmannall906

In that case there must be at least three because there are two on that stretch of canal, the other one being a little bit further south at the southern end of a section of the canal that is actually part of the river Cherwell. It's about a mile or so north of Thrupp.

Nice vid. Hope your knee issue isn’t a torn meniscus. I’ve had that - part of mine has been removed. It still swells and gets tender occasionally. Hopes it heals well and fast!
@greggobleman270
@greggobleman270 6 жыл бұрын
I was going to suggest this as well. Xray won't show it. MRI will. Small tear like us older gents can do take a long time to really heal. Bad tears can create a flap that may lock the knee. Then surgery is the only option. A key thing to know is, when you go to bed and it hasn't bothered you much. Just a few minutes in bed and it suddenly becomes very painful. I suppose that is because your body was relaxing. I had to prop mine on a pillow just right. I carried a cane for two years and realized one day that I didn't need it any more. Took a lot of ibuprofen. Which can be hard on a stomach. All the best!

Thanks both for your thoughts. Went to private physio today and she thought it probably a torn meniscus. I have been up every night with awful pain. She advised on way forward and spent a long time massaging and stretching muscles and ligaments and it now feels really good. Fingers crossed. 😀

Sending you wishes for a full recovery. Mine didn't hurt with sharp or throbbing pain, but was more a soreness and swelling. It really impacted my day. I hope you can continue with noninvasive therapies to alleviate the need for surgery. Keep floating! :)

Great video as always. I had a similar problem with my knee and was advised by my chemist to take anti inflammatory tablets, worked a treat within 3 days I was ok. Quick question, what happens about receiving mail as you have no permanent address! One upside I can think of is no junk mail....lol

Hi Gray. Thanks for watching. Our housekeeper collects from a locked box on outside of house and will post to us periodically. We have attempted to go paperless with utility companies but they still insist sending the odd postal missive.

Hi Mark. We had thought of doing that but lack of space to spread wet boards around and would only have to touch up after nailing panel pins in. Thanks for your comment. Rich

You are probably better off looking on You tube for knee exercises as NHS physiotherapists nowadays do very little ‘hands on’. They just show you a few exercises and rebook your next appointment.

always best to get away from low life morons...and find a quiet place...Fran can certainly handle the boat well....love having a wall map..had one when I used to go motor caravanning up north to Scotland and traced all journeys done and when...sadly lost it in a move after I stopped touring...lovely field of horses....I had a torn cruciate ligament in my knee a few years ago and used an elasticated support which helped ease the pain...
