Couldn’t agree more with your assessment of this shoe. I did a 10K effort on my first run and I was struggling to keep the pace I would usually hold easy in even the endorphin speed or tempo next % and I felt beat up after the race. Ran the same route a few days after in the tempo next percent and I was literally flying and had fully recovered the next day. I am starting to appreciate that bounciness in a foam is not just to run fast but protect you from the impact and gives you back the energy you put in. It’s not the plate, but the the foam that matters.

I've got this shoe and really like it. For me its like a more cushioned Hoka Carbon X2. I enjoy the aggressive rocker but I'm a heel to midfoot striker - I could imagine it not working so well for forefoot strikers. It did feel firmer than I expected on my first run but seems to have softened up nicely.

The Endorphin Speed 3 will make this shoe a hard sell, knowing that the new Speed will have increased stability (compared to Speed 1 & 2) and more springy foam.

Thank you for the review! Sounds and looks like the reebok symmetros with a plate. I do enjoy the symmetros (and lasts forever) but it's already stable and firm, so not sure that foam needs a plate. Sticking to my saucony speed 2'sfor workouts and race, for the same money.

Great video! Based on your account and BITR review, it’s looking like this shoe might appeal more to heel-midfoot strikers for daily/tempo trainers. Good enough for me. Hmmm… but the Saucony endorphin speed v2 on a discount seems too hard to pass. Decisions. Decisions.

I completely agree with your analysis. For me, they dont feel soft or bouncy. If anything they feel heavy and clunky. I was fortunate to get them 35% off before Reebok excluded them from discount so for the $110 I paid, I'm not too disappointed. However, I definitely would not pay retail for these as there are much better options for that price.

Agree wholeheartedly. I initially thought there were other factors contributing to why I felt beat up after running in these. I took a few days off, tried again and concluded that there is definitely something odd with the landing/stability. So glad you pointed it out, I thought I was going nuts lol.

First, I'm not a 'toe' striker :) more of midsole striker... Have never had issues with Reeboks and discomfort since i started using them 3-4 years ago including full marathon in Floatride Run 2.0s last fall. I'm curious of how folks compare it to Energy 3.0. My first impressions are its a bit 'softer' than the Energy 3.0. Have thought Energy line is less 'soft' than original floatride run line, but this one reminded me more of that original floatride feel (which i think full retailed for $150). I'm doing a half marathon with em this weekend so will have a better verdict, but my first impression is better aligned with feel of original floatride foam (softer) and if you liked the original float ride runs, you may like these.

Great review as always! I got this shoe from our rep and I've run in it up to an hour so far. I've had a much different experience than you did, but I land midfoot to rear. It's been super comfortable, much softer than Hoka Carbon X 2, and stable for me and I have thankfully not experienced the narrow landing point that you did. It is a bit heavy for race day compared to other options, but it's $50+ less than most everything else except Hoka right now. I would readily run a half in this over the Carbon X 2. I think it's a great option for tempo runs or long runs with race pace intervals.

I love my floatride 3’s but have learned that energy foam is not for long distance. It seems like the foam condenses slightly with each stride and after a few miles the soft rebound sensation gradually gives way to a very hard unforgiving platform and they need a rest for a week or so to recover. Interesting that the problems you had on your run increased the longer you went on. I think Reebok are doing fantastic things and I hope they become a major player in the future as their technology improves. Hope that’s fair comment. Outstanding that you are so close to 100k subscribers we are all so appreciative of the hard work you put in on our behalf. Ian 🇬🇧

@@ianlowe4126 I do want to say that I generally agree with you in regards to Reebok. There seem to be mixed reviews on this shoe (Eddbud loves them), but it is probably not their very best effort for a super shoe. They already have a pebax based shoe in the Run Fast, so I’m excited to see if they ever bring a plate (and a higher stack height) to that one.

Flexweave was actually in the Floatride Run 1 (not fast). Interesting they didn’t use the peba foam from that shoe. Kind-of like the Zoom Fly where Nike uses React. So not a true race day shoe, but more hybrid tempo/race. Which makes sense for the price.

I feel like Reebok was just trying to get this one out of the way. There was no big announcement and it was severely discounted upon release. The shoe has the smallest amount of pebax in it. I almost feel like it's a concept shoe that got released and the next one will be great.
@Jambr380

There is actually no pebax. Energy foam uses TPE beads (like Adidas Boost). They do use pebax in their Floatride Run Fast models, but the stack height is probably too low for most. And of course, there’s no carbon plate

I personally love this shoe, ran a halfmarathon race in it last saturday and surpassed my goal time by quite a bit (of course not everything is due to the shoe). Didn't feel any hotspots or anything and the fit was amazing (I am normally someone who has to relace shoes often). I've had Speed 2 and honestly didn't like it as much as I do this Reebok. I am not a particularly heavy runner (175cm, 71 kg; 5'8 and 155 lbs? I guess, i don't really know imperial units precisely). The price - not sure how it is in US, but in Europe you can get this shoe for a lot less than the MSRP.
