This is soo cool! I just recently saw a video by Sebastian Lague where he did this same thing with pure code, but I never thought it would look soo cool in Minecraft as well lol.

The ideas for a procedurally animated force of organisms grows. Now I see flies swarming over the growing mounds and pits of teal biomass, floating bulbs with lethal tendrils flowing from prey to prey as the walkers skitter below. Amazing work.

God man you NEED to start making mod packs that implement these behaviors you make, imagine going to a jungle and flocks of parrots fly above

resource packs dont affect behaviour, but you could probably make a mod like this

how hard would it be to convert this to use the new block_display entity? like, imagine little blocks flying around in a glass room (or little bird player heads once they get nbt data working with it)

Should be possible. In fact, it would probably run a lot smoother if I used lerp instead of updating the position every game tick.

Is this command/datapack or whatever it is going to be public? it looks kinda pointless but its cool and satisfying at the same time

Just added it to the description. Yeah, I think they’re mostly used for decoration in games, although similar models are used for swarm robotics.

Is this data packs or commands? And if it’s commands are they public?

Idk if you know, but datapacks are coded on Minecraft commands language (if I can call it so) so anything you can make with a datapack, you can make with command blocks, but datapacks are preferred for bigger projects because every line of code is basically another command block

You can embed datapacks in a world. I used Spigot for this. Just added it to the description.
