The gi changes everything. It really slows down your game. Kade still did an amazing job and Chueng’s guard retention is fantastic.

@@joshhardy5646 I wanna see what an Olympic Judoka would end up doing within the Gi with some knowledge of leg locks because there takedowns in the Gi are simply next level with a decent bit of newaza focus.

@astrosherlock374 one of the guys I train with is a Judoka. Been doing it for over 40 years. His grip strength is next level. Once he has your lapel, you aren't getting it back. He's not bad on the ground either. His knee bars come from nowhere. 😂😂😂😂

i was on the edge of my seat for the entire match... i feared Kade was gonna get swept with all the grips that Chueng had but instead he put on a show. Great competitor, always a pleasure to watch!

It's easy to judge from the couch, but against a guy like Ruotolo, Nathan should have sensed something was up after that head move and let go the right hand.

From the little I have seen, I can't say I'm too impressed. He relies too much on his athleticism and isn't very technical (not including his takedown knowledge). Both matches I saw, his opponents were beyond him technically. P.S. Found out he's from Atos AKA Galvao's. Makes sense.

@@kingwilly8041 It's easy to criticize when you don't know much. He is a world class BJJ practitioner from a very young age. You need to understand BJJ to see his caliber. Everything in KZfaq. Watch him on the no I competitions....you can see his strength clearly. The Gi is too slow, and it's hard for some ppl to see the set ups and the finishes.

Kade is so dynamic, but you can tell he hasn’t been as focused on his gi game. While she’s very dynamic, he’s not as sharp as he could be.

As a judoka, it’s weird to see them not get stood up and asked to neaten up their gi’s but honestly I’m conflicted. On one hand they should be stood up and asked to do their belt and such as it would make things more fair from a gi stand point; they have the same gi setup. On the other hand I kinda like the idea of not having them stood up to fix their gi’s as this would ruin the flow of the fight and some people might intentionally pull their gi out to get out of a bad situation maybe. Lotta things to consider and a fantastic fight nonetheless. Never really liked ground work before I watched this but honestly I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and, even though I’m terrible on the ground, I was still able to appreciate the intricacies of what each player was trying to do. Fantastic work, can’t wait to see where the IBJJF goes in years to come.
