Parts of England are facing a widespread flood emergency after days of relentless rain.
Nottinghamshire County Council has declared a major incident as water levels on the river Trent continue to rise.
The UK’s Met Office has issued a cold weather alert ahead of ice, fog, and frost across much of the country.
River levels in the Trent are at a 20-year high.
Many houses and businesses have been inundated with flood water.

It's winter what crops? Standing water will kill anything but once it dries out you'll have plenty of compacted soil to try and plant come spring

@mlord1815 correction, it's the cold season (Northern Hemisphere) which means, depending on the weather, it can be -50C or a cool +5C. if it is really cold then the snow acts like a blanket to protect the crops that were planted in autumn; if it's a mild winter the water serves the plants just as well. the only real problem is violent fluctuations in temperatures cold/hot/cold/hot that messes the plants germination cycle.
