The California Beekeeper

The California Beekeeper

Күн бұрын

In late October of 2021, Beekeeper and Commercial Queen Breeder, Jose Uribe, heads over to our bee yard located at the organic farm in Butte County. A storm hit that caused flash flooding and unfortunately we lost several pallets of colonies in the process. Jose hand loads the bees and relocates them to another bee yard nearby.
If you are interested in placing a 2022 queen order with us, please email in at thecaliforniabeekeeper@gmail.com.
If you are new to our channel, welcome! We are a small family owned and operated micro-commercial apiary located in Northern California. We've been commercial beekeeping for the past 13 years, but branched off and opened Uribe Honey Bees in January of 2019, and then launched our KZfaq channel in April of 2020. We specialize in queen breeding, pollination services, hive management and brokering.
Thank you for watching and supporting us! We love you guys!

We lost 200 hives down the Sacramento River when a dike broke in 1978. What few hives we were able to recover were full of silt. Saved a few boxes but the combs were ruined. I hope you have better luck with yours. We watched a couple full sized mobile homes float down the river until they hit the bridge at Roosters Landing (Balls Ferry) where they disintegrated and sank. :(

Thanks for sharing. I got lazy and still have a cardboard nuc outside when a storm hit. The top was blown off and the whole nuc was soaked. I moved the nuc indoor and give them a few mins of hair dryer treatment. Next morning they were completely back to business :) I didn't check if they lost any brood tho. Now almost a month later they are still doing alright. So presumably they had no problem. I am suprised that bees can deal with water pretty well as long as they are mite free and have plenty of food. Would love to see a follow up on these hives from here. Keep up the good work.

Man i am sorry. So much for dry socks huh? Stay safe out there in Commifornia. The girls still looking out for ya. they tried staying high and dry. Ya know Max was at home praying for ya. Up here it is a white frozen wonderland. Ya need 2 ways and a easy loader. The truck we got this last year wrere 5 ton 4x4 GMC with 24ft bed with EZ Loaders. they also have a winch front and rear with hooks on the frame front and rear for being pulled. at times it gets nasty still up here with snow and mud moving hives

Matthew I love that suggestion about a wench. I might look into something like that to pull pallets. I have all the hookups setup for it on my tail end of my Bradford flatbed. I’ll keep you posted man. Thank you for the sincere words of encouragement. Respect and appreciation your way Matthew. In California defense, the people are amazing. Just like any other place we have our share of bad apples. Northern part of the state is Home and we love it and the folks. You should visit out west, you might love it 😉 .
