All boat ramps on the Lower Wisconsin were flooded but the Sturgeons were biting non-stop.

Lake Sturgeon are NOT endangered in Wisconsin and are not protect or on the Endangered species list in this state contrary to what I implied in the video.

I have never gotten a lake sturgeon. I caught a whole bunch of shovelnose the one time I fished the last dam on the Wisconsin River during actual sturgeon season. There is a certain kind of minnow that the sturgeon seem to really like down there but the guys I was with had promised the friend from church who showed it to them they wouldn't show anyone what kind of minnow it was. They caught at least three to one fish compared to all the guys who were using crawlers.

It's probably like that with sturgeon down here in Missouri with the rivers flooded but I only get them in the Missouri and Mississippi never in the meramec at the mouth of river des peres I've caught lake sturgeon in the teens and seen them in the 30s pounds but yeah fishing with worms will do that here too in a flood

My advice after watching this would be to adapt to whats biting that day, have fun and relax. Even if its not your intended specie that day!

I sometimes fish the river near my parents house and we end up fishing in waders and my dad built some rod holders out of metal fence posts just to keep the rods out. When the river was down like crazy the river was the lowest it had been in the thirty years that they have lived below Castle Rock. Hopefully the river stays high for a long time and digs the hole out that used to be there. After the flooding in 1994? That place had a huge hole and catfish were always there.

If that spot is where i think it is i went deer hunting for an afternoon once about fifteen years ago off too the left side of where your fishing.

Should have messaged me, could have taken the boat out! The head of the island in front of you is where I caught a 35 lb flathead and some smaller ones.
