- Flooding vs Non Flooding Acrylic Pouring Experiment. Let's see what happens, when doing my dutch pour painting with blowing the white over the colors, or not (mixture is: only paint and water). And using the exact same colors, puddle and tools. Big results! See what happens for yourself!
Do you have any experiments for me in mind? Let me know!

I am an acrylic pouring addict, without a doubt. Playing with colors, testing out new fluid art techniques, brands, sizes & collaborating with other abstract fluid artists; is the best. Since I started this journey I feel more balanced in my work and passion. If you see these fluid painting tutorials and feel like, this is something for me: go for it! The fun thing about fluid painting is, that even though you do exactly the same, the outcome is different everytime. Also everybody has a different view of composition, colorcombinations and the way of doing a technique, what makes and keeps it so interesting to watch. Thank you for watching and following me in my modern art journey!

Both have their merits, however, my preference in this case is the "flooded" version. The flooded version has an ethereal jellyfish kind of vibe, while the "non-flooded" version looks like what happened when the jellyfish tried to cross the road.

I just started with pouring and have been watching soooo many videos of yours, Kanella, Molly, etc. so far about pouring and I can definitely say your style is the best, softer more elegant tones. Your positive vibe and happy uncomplicated personality makes me feel good after watching your videos and excited to try new techniques.

From what I've seen, when you do the "non flooding" method you still pour a ring of base coat around the colours to help them move - you just don't blow them over.

When you don’t do the flooded version, you have to blow the dryer in a different way. So you start blowing in the very middle out, so that top middle color spreads out more. If you just do the edge, then you will still have the glob of color in the middle. Sometimes what I’ll do is I’ll take a very little drop of the base color and put that as the final color of the circle. That adds a nice element as well.

I think Rinske has perfected the original flooded Dutch pour with puddles which I absolutely love. I will say I think kanella has perfected her version of this by doing lines/squiggles and then putting a small amount of bases color next to the squiggles as a way for the paint to glide better. Both techniques close to the same idea, are executed a little differently to produce beautiful outcomes. I personally do better with rinskes and tend to have the same problem she has when trying to duplicate what others, like kanella have conquered. I love your videos Rinske. Not only do I learn a lot but also I enjoy your calm happy presentation. You just have such an happy peacefulness to you that shines thru.

Thank you for the demonstration. I am all for the "Flooding" approach. It gives the work a look of smoothness and tranquility. Colors blend and do not overpower each other. The "Non Flooding" you run the risk of having a color or two overpower and overshadow the others and strike you in the eye.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was having such a hard time doing a Dutch poor. I never got any satisfactory results! My paint didn’t move, I added more paint to that out that moved a little bit add more paint we’re bad out that moved a little bit and I just ended up with a really thick paint splotch as opposed to a graceful, wispy, delicate, sheer petal-like result . On a sidenote, I have to say that I really enjoy watching you perform your artistry! I’m addicted to your videos, I think you’re amazing, and I so appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us, and your time with us, so that we can learn as well.

I've always flooded, then I saw another artist not flood. Yes it was more vibrant with the colors, but did not have any transparency like I like and know you like. That's what gives it the softness, I think and like. It also allows more movement when wanting to work with your piece as far as blowing the edges, etc. Loved your color palette as well!💞💞💞
