After seeing this enormously powerful performance, to me, it felt like, yes, definitely one of her best performances. I completely relate to your feelings. She is such a great singer, performer and actor. FYI: Floor did follow a year of education in a school of performing, and she did gave performing classes herself after that. Who knows, maybe some day, she will get an invitation to play a character in a movie. I would love to see her performing in a grand musical as well. This woman is just amazing, she can do it all...

Was watching a documentary on women of metal and Floor was shotgunned through out the whole thing. One thing she said was how happy she was that people thought how effortlessly and easy she could jump from clean to head to chest to growls. She then said it wasn't easy at all and it took a lot of training to get there. She has honed her instrument well.

I'm almost going after the known phrase: "The best Nightwish/ Floor Jansen song is the I just heard...", but in this case I must go to latest published version of "Slow, Love, Slow". Mature woman singing that in soft jazzy style (I count is as that, without any xperience) - it is this far the most enchanting I've heard her perform 💜💜

I agree with you but, after listening to this entire concert I say Wow I just don't know my favorite. They all are my favorite at that moment. I will say the four I listen to the most are Storm In A Glass, Nemo, Face Your Demons and Slow,Love,Slow. See, I have four and still can't nail one down. HELP!!!!!

I agree with you. I think she'd be a good actress. She's basically acting in all her performances anyway. She sells every song with not only her voice, but her "acting." This is definitely one of my favorites from this show. So, we agree again! Thanks for the great reaction and analysis!

Floor's Beste Zangers solo "Shallow" is still my personal favorite, but THIS perfromance is running a VERY close second...it could take over first place once I watch it as many times as the Shallow video...(could take a while, considering how many times I've watched Shallow😉)

Regarding your question about the writing credits for this song: Lyrics by Floor Jansen, Music is credited to the entire band. As there are severals songs where only two or three members are explicitly credited for the music I gues this one's music truly was a collaborative effort.

The crowd funding was for _video recording_ the show, so all her fans, worldwide, could enjoy the concert as the solo concert(s) were only meant for The Netherlands (see her crowdfunding page: www.floorjansen.com/news/crowdfunding-my-solo-show-with-my-fans). Originally it would be only one concert but because of corona it was rescheduled and rescheduled and then split in three concerts with only part of capacity of the venue used. The full video will be made available for free to the public and she is publishing individual songs when they are finished editing them. The sound recording is already available and you can buy high quality downloads. Because of all the delays/reschedules the documentary was cut a bit short(er) than originally planned but still a joy to watch including a visibly emotional Floor walking of the stage in the end. I happened to be at this last and recorded concert, which makes it extra special to me.

Re: songwriters, I wanted to name-drop Mark Jansen (no relation), who later went on to found the symphonic metal band Epica with Simone Simons. But I see this song was written after he left the band. Maybe that's why it has more of an ordinary metal sound, as opposed to symphonic, like their earlier albums.

Another great video. Floor did some song writing in After Forever but mainly lyrics. After Forever was a metal band that moved more mainstream over time. Their music video for Energize Me (which is in the setlist for this concert) is very mainstream (but still amazing)and my guess is they would have become much more commercially successful and internationally popular if they hadn't broken up. Monolith of Doubt is one of my favorites.

Hey Christi, I am from Germany and love your reactions soo much, because you look more for artistry than all the technical aspects - and - you feel music. That is importend for me. Now I'm waiting for your review of this song from Floor Jansen. But I have another new and interesting (I hope) suggestion for you. Sam Scott-Thorne, another Voice-Teacher from GB, had presented this young artist from South Korea. Her name is Song So-Hee, born 1997, and her artistry and vocal ability is beyond description, similar to some other artists (Angelina Jordan, Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, Tengri, Floor). She is specialized in traditional Korean music known as gugak. In South Korea she is titled as a national treasure. Song So-Hee is a graceful, gentle und humble person with extraordinary vocal skills and artistry. Her voice is absolut mesmerizing. Her timbre is a little bit darker than expect by her appearance (I think, she is a mezzo). For a long time you have reacted to Tengri from China. Back than you was blown away by his skills (changes of dynamics and so on). So I think, you'll be amazed by Song So-Hee. I would be happy, if you decide too listen to one ore two of her songs. The crowdfunding was for the whole concert sequence. There was more than enough money, so Floor decided to make a "road to Amsterdam video" and to record the last concert (of nine, i think).The acting Floor does, is probably because she liked musicals during her childhood (that is why she knew Henk Poort) and she also studied singing with a musical theatre teacher for a few years. He/She?? will have no doubt influenced her. Can't remember the name. She says it I think in the Dutch TV show Reunion (Floor is the focal guest and gets very emotional in that TV show, by the way. I've also only recently discovered this song. It's amazing how quickly she can change her voice from growl to clear sound! Also - if you want to discover even more from Floor, try "Slow, love slow" from the same concert. It's in a very unusual style for her and it's a Nightwish song. Yeah this is a great song! It's music theatre, no wonder Arjen loves her. I was doing some car karaoke on my 100km jaunt to the shops & playing with distortion & I've found I can get a good growl on by really relaxing my soft pallete & bam back into cleans. Also I still have my tonsils which I can use to get a good gutteral. Floor has made me want to play with my voice. I'm no singer by any means but I enjoy it & now I can do these things my mates who are in bands want me to do some screams & stuff

Christi- I don't think you'll need to worry about "Fair Use People" for these Floor videos...since the videos were "crowd funded" Floor releases them for everyone to see free of strings, I THINK (I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure).

Congratulations on the video. The original song is different and in the video you saw, Floor is way better than the studio version - there's a version of the song with Marco. The song is the 10th song of After Forever's 4th album (Remagine/2005) the first with Ayreon's keyboardist. The band wrote the music and Floor wrote the lyrics. Album make in off: - OLD VIDEO choir recording from minute 26 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbygiappndGadI0.html About the letter: A song about confronting the dark side we all have inside us ("face your demons"). A bit like the concept of the shadow in Jungian thinking - the repressed (negative) side of our personality that we reject or ignore ("I represent what you deny"). There is a duality in the shadow since it can both set you free and destroy you if it's given free rein ("Oh you donÂ´t know what I could do for you / Or what I could put you through"). The message seems to be that you should confront yourself with the dark aspects of your identity instead of running away from them because of fear. On acting AS AN ACTRESS: Floor's first live performance took place during a musical she participated in high school, in Limburg, at age 14 and it was from that moment that she decided to become a professional singer. FLOOR : "When I was 16 I ended up auditioning for the position of a background singer in a band called After Forever. In 1999, After Forever's first EP came out and I had been promoted to lead vocalist. "I started studying at the Rock Academy in Tilburg, the first 'not Conservatory education' in Holland. To see how much this concert meant to Floor, watch as she leaves the stage at the end of the night in the documentary (13:44 mark in the docu ) she and her hubby, Hannes, made about this concert...with the funding left over from the crowd funding. I think the joy of FINALLY being able to get this show done, and the utter joy she has for performing, got to her as she left the stage. Is now more actual than ever to spread this words of peace. It's the final performance in the The Voice Kids Ukraine 4th season 2017.
