Not all cutters cut lengthwise, For example, Lowes has a $250 cutter that cuts easily and is large but does not cut lengthwise. Using a table saw with new floors with backing added to the Vinyl makes confetti all over the place, these cutters are needed.

Knife works if the flooring is paper thin. I've laid tons of flooring and never use a knife. Compound saw and table saw to rip.

You can tell this guy's legit just based on the fact that he's using a pair of ProKnee's! They are worth their weight in gold. A little spendy but worth the investment and I've got 5 years out of mine so far and still going. Great video. Just got the D-Cut ak360 today and am excited to try it out. My initial criticism though is that it is ridiculously heavy. Transporting it will not be fun, so I'll probably continue to use the lighter model for most installs.

how do you work around the vinyl planks coming out away from the previous plank most likely due to uneven walls?
@blank7643
@blank7643 2 жыл бұрын
The planks interlock and can't separate when connected properly. The planks shouldn't actually touch the wall, they fit under your baseboard and quarter round trim. Your first and last row should split the difference on how much you need to cut off.

Quick question! I’ve got some floor I can get cheap but a lot of the ends are chipped. Can the flooring still be used?
@FloorsbySouthernboys
@FloorsbySouthernboys Жыл бұрын
If you are OK with the chips, then in your floor, you will not be able to cut out all of the chips. If a lot of them are damaged, you could get rid of some of them by using them for end cuts but that will only get you so far.

Question is how thick does the d cut allow for rip cuts. Some of these planks are thick.

How would you say the d cut cg230 compares to the bullet magnum 13in shear? I’ve really been eyeing that guy up. Thanks Ruben been following you on fioa and your channel for awhile now great stuff man!
@FloorsbySouthernboys
@FloorsbySouthernboys 3 жыл бұрын
The bullet magnum is definitely a heavier duty Cutter, that’s why it cost two or three times more than the CG 230, the CG 230 is just so small lightweight and super easy to deal with makes it my favorite, I only use it for vinyl plank however it is rated for laminate and engineered hardwood
