Short notice: Unfortunately I do not take requests on this channel, mainly due to them being time consuming and sadly having a rather busy schedule. However, please enjoy the content I post and thank you for watching!
---------------------------------------------------
THIS IS NOT A TRAINING VIDEO, NOR SHOULD IT BE FOLLOWED AS ADVICE ON REPLACING BRUSHES. I HOLD NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYONE WHO ATTEMPTS WORK ON A MACHINE AND RECEIVES ANY INJURIES AS A RESULT OF IT. I AM NOT A CERTIFIED ENGINEER, NOR MAKE MYSELF OUT TO BE ONE...
It's time for Millie to receive her new Carbon Brushes. Watch me as I take you through (or merely struggle) the process of taking her brushes out and putting the new ones in. It was a good experience to finally work on a Miele, at least I'll know what to do next time haha...if there is one.
She sounds very whiney now and if I'm honest, I think she sounds great! But that sound will sadly wear off as the new brushes bed in. I have since recorded a wash with her new brushes which will be uploaded soon.
Thank you for watching and enjoy! :)

@Iazzaboyce

There are different types, but you will be able to keep the brush back and release when the assembly is screwed in place. Some clip back, some have a little tab to bend in and hold the brush - to release push the back with a cocktail stick.

Hey! :). So the brush holder does come off after removing the screws, but from what I can remember, I did need to jiggle it slightly to remove it. As for the brushes upon refitting, I held them in with my finger on each end as I slid the holder onto the armature. I hope that makes sense haha

Really nice video, it is lovely how this machine gets older with you. I love the motor bearing sound (eventhough I hate the tub bearing and shock absorber noise) because it reminds me the machine gets older with the person that uses it and I found it lovely as well. What do you think, do you like the motor bearing sound
@HooverA3060
@HooverA3060 3 жыл бұрын
Haha yes, Miele’s have a distinctive shock absorber sound, although…definitely not as annoying as LG’s, which all seem to do it from new. I mean this one has too but, only now and again. But yes she certainly has a motor bearing sound, luckily not screaming like a meat slicer (as I call the sound). She certainly has served well. I do indeed love Miele motor sounds. The older models had much louder motors though which I love

@@rgosain You don't need to put the front panel back on to activate the interlock. As long as the door can still close into the door interlock switch, it will still activate it. All the front panel does is just hold the door and other parts to the machine onto the cabinet. But it can still be closed and operated without the panel attached. When the brushes aren't equally worn out, it's the rotor that has a defect. This is not a solution to your problem. The motor should be revised as well.

The uneven wear of the brushes indicates a faulty motor. A segment of the commutator has burned. It will work again but not for very long. The commutator has shorted,

You made life very difficult for yourself. You only need to remove the front panel (large ring around the door rubber) and 3 torx screws to gain access to the motor to change the brushes. You don't even have to pull it out from under any kitchen units.

@@HooverA3060 Your video was actually a help to me. I've just replaced the bearings in my W3824 Miele washing machine drive motor and I didn't know how to lock the brushes in their housings when refitting the brush assembly. One of my brushes was also worn down more than the other. 2 new brushes ordered from Amazon for £11.79. Miele wanted £44.40 for one brush. Who only changes one brush FFS? A new motor from them would have been £532. Second hand motors are going for around £50 upwards on ebay. Hopefully with new bearings in my existing motor, it should be good for a few years more. Touch wood anyway.

Well, it is pretty easy to do tbh. All you need to do is just hold the brush against the casing it’s in and slide the holder over the armature. I was unable to show it because the camera angle would have been impossible to do. However this isn’t a tutorial video, as is made clearly known by the title not saying “how to”, so it isn’t to show anyone how to do it

@@HooverA3060 Thanks for your reply. I thought of that but the front of brush holder does not want to come off and I assume that is what needs to happen to do that. I will look at it again. Apologies if i came across as a bit negative.

@HooverA3060 Жыл бұрын
@@johngarbutt it does come off as I believe Miele designed it so you don’t have to remove the entire motor as is the case with most bottom mounted motor machines (barring GEC Hotpoint). There are however some technicians who are doing tutorials on KZfaq for Miele brushes but in reality, Miele hardly has any tutorials for repairing their machines. No worries at all mate, I appreciate the feedback though, as it shows what can be improved. Only reason I don’t mark it as a tutorial is because I myself am learning as I repair and Miele certainly aren’t a brand I’m confident on 😂

@@HooverA3060 The correct way on the brushes you fitted is to bend down the tab on top of the casing (you can see this in your video) the tab has a nipple which will hold the brush in place when pushed back. Just bend it down sufficient to hold the brush in place and make sure the spring is seated in the rear holders. When the assembly is fitted to the motor and screwed in place the brushes can be released by pushing the back of the brush with a cocktail stick (might need a mirror) don't use anything bigger because it might dislodge the spring from a rear holder.
