Hi Morgan, I'm an Uber driver in my 10th year. Regarding Uber and Lyft, instead of asking the driver who he or she is there to pickup, know their name, match their face and vehicle with the photos that's on the app and greet them by saying "hi ____" thank you for picking me up. The driver will reply and say your name.

We just rode BL from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale for our cruise from Port Everglades. Beautiful train, nice staff, caught cab to our hotel since it was dark when we arrived. Live in Ohio so won't ride often, but locals should use it

The bathrooms are much bigger than the one on an airplane and it is wide enough for a wheelchair. If you need one and the two times I rode Brightline the bathroom was always clean.

Brightline was great when we flew into Fort Lauderdale to take cruise out of Miami. I ended up saving about $150 flying into Ft Lauderdale instead of Miami. Brightline is great! I will say Uber was not the best choice for ride-sharing. I found Lyft to be more reliable while in Florida.

If you can’t take the escalator or stairs for some reason such as you’re in a wheelchair or you have something bigger to carry like a baby buggy, etc. then there is an escalator.

Earlier this year I flew into Fort Lauderdale, took Brightline to Miami, and then an Uber booked through Brightline to my pre-cruise hotel. So simple and low-stress! I just booked another flight to FLL and cruise out of Miami, and am definitely using Brightline again.

Brightline is an interesting development in Central / South Florida. The main issue I have seen with it is they still have dozens of level crossings where roads and rail intersect. This results in reduced speeds and hold ups. Unlike in Europe where trains have been more widely used for decades and most intersections are bridges or tunnels meaning they can be much quicker.

Hey Morgan, Denise here from Toronto, Ontario. Thanks so much for this video. I’m booked to take the Brightline in January. I’m booked on the Celebrity Reflection departing on Jan 20th but planning on visiting my sister a few days before the cruise. So I’m flying into Orlando, visiting with her and hubby and then on the Friday before my cruise I’ve booked the Brightline to take me down to Ft. Lauderdale. I did this in September So I appreciated the walk through you did and told me where you get your luggage. Thanks for always doing such a great job and keeping it real!

In Orlando airport, there are quite a number of local buses that only cost about two dollars and go into Orlando in various locations. If you don’t mind riding a local bus. I found them very useful, I got to international drive that way and then took the trolley, the fake trolley Local bus is called the lynx at the animal. If you go to the website, you conceal the locations that the bus travels to.

Just an FYI, Morgan. They are going to build a station at Merritt Island for Port Canaveral cruises sometime in the future, but not really sure how far Merritt Island to Port Canaveral is.

I grew up by railroad tracks, so I can most definitely say the train goes by mom's house. They don’t stop there of course. Most of the trains going by are cargo, but Amtrak passes twice daily, once in each direction.

We've had Tri-Rail, which also runs north-south between Miami and West Palm Beach, for over 3 decades.

There is also sun rail in Orlando but it doesn’t run on weekends, and it only runs often a weekdays during morning rush-hour times and evening return home times plus it goes somewhat slow. It is inexpensive, however. It only runs throughout part of north Orlando and south of Orlando and small towns are part of Orlando. I’m a downtown area not in the airport yet.

Brightline was fully placed in service around September so it is very new. We see/hear it fly through our town several times a day.

I was in West Palm a few weeks ago and they have some thing called the circuit which is an electric bus very small more like the size of a van and it is free and it regularly comes to meet the Brightline and can take you anywhere in West Palm in Palm Beach

I definitely would try the Brightline in the future. I've often flown into any of those cities to head somewhere else (cruise or otherwise) so it may serve itself useful to me. Last cruise we were in Miami but flew home out of FLL and spent the day at a resort in FLL and the Uber was expensive from the cruise port to our resort in FLL.

I love using the train. Wish they would do the same for Texas. Austin, Dallas, Houston, Galveston would be so convenient and more cost effective than short haul flights.

Thanks for sharing this information. Since I’m in Orlando and cruise frequently it takes 3 hours to drive to Fort Lauderdale and 4 to Miami. My concern about taking the train was lugging the luggage. Nice to find out it gets checked in! And to have the Uber arranged is great! I’ve stopped staying in a hotel for Ft Lauderdale, now I can skip it for Miami too! What I save on hotels easily would pay for the train.

I agree! Hotels in Fort Lauderdale and Miami can be expensive plus they add a resort tax among the other taxes !!

So easy! Just take cab to hotel and then have them hail you a cab the morning of cruise day.

Or if you take a small suitcase or day pack like I did for a short trip from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando to West Palm then you don’t need to check your suitcase.

This is a great and informative video as usual!!! We took the Brightline in Jan 2020 (ohhh those good Pre Covid days) and flew into West Palm Beach and then took the train right to Miami. Everything you described was exactly our experience. We did splurge for the Premium on the way down and oh it was sooooo worth it l!

@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides At the time there were open bottles of Presecco, Red and White available and a bar fridge of beer varieties to enjoy freely. Onboard there was a really fun drink cart that came down a couple times (some mixed drinks were available). This may have changed since but we sure did enjoy it!

I saw the train on our way to our cruise in Ft Lauderdale. We drove from tx...but we'll have to look into the cost since the tolls were expensive from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale. It would depend if parking is less too. Thanks for letting us know of another option

Doing research for a cruise in may. I just checked the price to go from Fort Lauderdale to Miami. $40.00 each, for the train ride, $74.00 in premium........??!? They're nuts

If I may, love your Videos and hope you get that Blue check soon!!! We have taken Brightline on several occasions. We have used Premium, which also included transport within about 5 miles so we are taken and collected from the Port for Brightline with Premium. This usually is the same or cheaper than adding umber and you get all the included drinks and snacks

While they were building it, I took a cruise out of Port Canaveral and I was very sad to hear that PC wasn't going to be a part of the trip. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they decide to add it at some point. Port Canaveral is great but getting to it from the airport (or to the airport from it) is annoying.

@@enjoystraveling Yes, I took it. The driver of that shuttle is the one who told us about the Brightline. It's a very limited shuttle and a train that ran several times a day would be better.

If you’re a student, you may qualify for the lower student rate for the train or if not, there’s always a commuter pass if you use the train a lot

There is also TRI-Rail which is the Commuter train for South Florida which runs from West Palm Beach to Miami and is a lot cheaper than Brightline.

Thanks for this video! Our TA is coming into Miami and the only flights are 8am, 11am, and 8pm. We think 11am is too risky, so we’re thinking we could take the train to FLL-there’s more flight options, and if we do have to spend the night, it’s usually cheaper (we don’t want to fly back at 8pm though if that’s what it comes to…). Have you taken the Brightline since? Any of your viewers taken it from Miami Port to FLL airport?
