Retired LEO from Broward County. I did background investigations on new candidates. If I found that you did not answer truthfully, your application would have been dismissed for deception. Had you disclosed it, the issue would have been looked at on a case-by-case basis. Had we found something out even twenty years later, you would have most likely been terminated. CJSTC would have decided if you lost your ticket and/or retirement.

Broward is a deep blue county with a large black population. And no, it's not hard to be a black man in Florida. It's exactly the same as being a white man. Get a job, work hard, save, pay your bills, don't break the law. That seems hard to you? Most people do it every day but it's a big challenge if you're black, is that what you're saying?
