Almost forgot, you have opened us up to the ability to motor, then kayak, and also SUP, allows access to all kinds of places. And also I would perceive, gives you greater stamina for longer trips as your body can stand and sit and therefore not get as sore from being cramped upfor so long. All around a win-win...

As someone who's dabbled with video and editing, I don't think most people appreciate what Cliff goes through to make these videos. This is a heck of a lot of work. It's really easy to sit back and watch and enjoy, but it is definitely time-consuming, and and expensive getting all the things you need to do it properly. I for example still don't have a remote mic set up and this can be limiting with the distance the camera is from you. And Cliff goes the extra mile and does some aerial footage as well. Just amazing stuff really. I for one sincerely appreciate all the effort Cliff!

I was skeptical of the Paddleski but it looks like a good vessel for what it is. I still think Sea Eagle needs to bigger (longer) in the canoes and kayaks. Still happy with my FT465 after six years, with all wear caused by my hard use.

Hi there Lonnie, congratulations on your new PaddleSki! I have the shorter shaft Honda. I believe that’s the only one that sea eagle sells. Love the concept of the Paddleski, strongly considering it! Questions: 1. I live at almost 8,000 feet, and frequently visit lakes at 9,000-10.000 feet. I have read you lose 3% horsepower for every 1,000 feet of elevation. So at 10,000 feet, the Honda 5 hp is only 3.1 hp. Would I be better off with an electric outboard such as the Torqeedo or Epropulsion, which are supposed to be the equivalent of a 3 hp outboard with no loss of power at altitude? No noise and no maintenance. 2. How deep does the water have to be to use the motor? Thanks again for your great videos!
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 2 жыл бұрын
@gil folsom Thanks for watching Gil! I have heard the same things about outboards at altitude. With a Torquedo, you wouldn’t lose any power at all. The model that you would use with that boat will give you an hour range on a full charge at full power. If you are on lakes at altitude, more than likely they are not that large, so an hour of power would be all you would ever need I think. PaddleSki will go 7 miles an hour with a Torquedo at full speed. With a solar panel charger up in the bow of the boat, you could recharge the battery if you have a long overnighter and sun ☀️ to charge it. An extra battery for the Torquedo, runs $1000. That’s another way to double your range. I think the spare battery weighs 9 pounds. I think the Torquedo engine only weighs in the 30 pound range. Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions, I’m always available to help! Thanks for using my affiliate link with Sea Eagle and safe adventuring in 2022! bit.ly/33PbnFH

How do you get this to track Cliff? Is there a technique? I feel the motor in the down position doesn’t help. Sometimes it’s ok to paddle but other times it spins around. I wonder if a leeboard would make a difference? Looking for ideas
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Жыл бұрын
Hello 👋 - I will admit, the PaddleSki does not track exceedingly well when paddling. I am going to purchase some of the smaller fins and adhere them to the bottom of the pontoons. I think this will take care of any paddling tracking problem. It will not add so much as a skeg to make it hard to turn, I think it will still paddle and turn well, but track a little better. Parts - Fins, D Rings etc. . . bit.ly/3XxIe8R

@@KayakCliff thanks for taking the time to reply Cliff. Sometimes I go out and it paddles fine (usually low wind), I think the wind can play tricks on me as it pushes the boat a bit - maybe the skegs might make a difference so thanks for the suggestion. I love the boat - its so versatile, really up to the creativity of the person as to what you want to do with it. Have had some great fun with the family already

Do you usually put gas in the internal tank as well or do you only use the external tank when using the 5hp honda or use both at the same time? Also, when you use the external tank, do you notice the gas coming out a little bit when plugging it into the motor? Also, how long do you think you can leave the gas in the internal tank for? Or do you run it out after each use? Thanks!
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Жыл бұрын
Hi Nghia - I ONLY use the external tank. Yes, when you plug the gas line into the motor, there will be a small amount of gas that squirts out, I just wipe it away with a paper towel, or hold a paper towel around the valve as I plug it in. This is totally normal. When I’m finished with the motor, I like to unplug the external gas tank when I’m finished to let the motor run until it stops on its own. Doing this makes sure all the gas is out of the engines gas lines. You don’t want any gas to go bad while sitting in the engine for an extended time period. I always add fuel stabilizer to the gas in my external tank, so it stays good longer when not in use. PaddleSki Boat / Kayak / SUP - The “Do Everything” boat! @KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Жыл бұрын
If I’m going to be back out the following week, I probably will not run the gas out. If the motor is going to sit for an extended period of time, it is always best that you run the gas out. If you don’t, the gasoline will form deposits (kind of like a varnish) around the components of your carburetor or fuel injectors. This will “gum” it up and make it not perform as well.

Hi Dorothy, thank you for watching and commenting! I have never heard of a situation where an alligator has bothered a kayak in the Florida springs. From what I have seen and heard, they tend to keep to themselves. I always keep a good distance and make sure that they do not feel threatened and just keep on going my own way. I hope this helps. If you choose to go down the Springs and you actually see an alligator, which is usually not the case, I think you will become more comfortable with them. Have a good weekend!
