Hands down, it makes sense to use a registered agent service if you are forming a new LLC. That's the main role. The registered agent also gets documents from the state about filings that are due, etc. They are things you don't want to miss. Once you're comfortable and the business is running, you might decide to cancel the service. It costs about $11 a month after that first free year. It typically takes about 1 week or less when registering online. By mail it takes about 2 weeks for processing plus USPS times.
