Explanation for the 4 gallon puzzle: - Fill up the 3 Gallon, Pour it into the 5 Gallon. - The 5 Gallon jug now has 2 gallons of empty space. - Fill up the 3 gallon again, pour it into the 5 Gallon again. There is now only 1 Gallon left in the 3 Gallon jug (3 - 2). - Empty all the water out of the 5 Gallon and pour what's in the 3 Gallon jug (1 gallon, currently), into it. - Now fill the 3 Gallon up again and add it to the other jug. You now have exactly 4 (3 + 1) Gallons.

for those who did not understand how did he measure out the 4 gallons: he first filled the whole 5 gallons bottle, then removed 3 gallons from the five gallons bottle using the 3 gallons bottle. He then emptied the 3 gallons bottle. now there are 2 gallons in the 5 gallons bottle and nothing in the 3 gallons one. then he transferred the 2 gallons to the 3 gallons bottle, so there is now only 1 gallon of space in the 3 gallons bottle. He then fills the whole 5 gallons bottle and removes 1 gallon using the 1 gallon of space that was available in the 3 gallons bottle, making it 4 gallons in the 5 gallons bottle.

Something random occurred to me last time I watched this movie: do you think John intentionally left the safety catch on Zeus's gun? It's kind of a dick move, but it's pretty similar to when he gave Hans the gun with no bullets in the first one. Maybe he figures the possible benefits of help are significantly less valuable than the risk of putting an untrained person in a situation with a live weapon?
