Boating activists around Astor are worried they may not be able to enjoy anchoring in Silver Glen Springs for much longer. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told News 6 it received a request to create a ”Springs Protection Zone” in Silver Glen.

We finally got a boat about a year ago, now these rules are coming to crystal river, here, and other places, this really sucks!

This isn't about environmental concerns. It's the property owners trying to limit who gets to use the public waterways nearest to their houses. Officials could easily ban anchoring and install permanent mooring locations instead, but they won't. These fixed moorings when once placed will not adversely effect the environment, but it isn't even a consideration. It's the HAVES vs the HAVE NOTS.

Maybe we should stop spraying chemicals to kill "invasive" plants. Im sure if they could figure out how to charge a fee to every boat that would make it ok. All about control and money

Yeah let the water hyacinth be free and abundant. It will clean up the pollution.

Oh, I’m so sick of boaters who think they have the right to everything. Now they’ve moved their boats to the run near my house. Half these people don’t even go near their boats. They just anchor them outside of wherever they want to be once a month. It’s selfish, rude, and it does affect the natural beauty of the Ocala National Forest
