@@bokc_nonpopularsalt1011 No knock warrants are touching the very fine line toward being unconstitutional already, not to mention dangerous. In my opinion if police were to serve a no knock warrant without announcing themselves and the homeowner shot thinking they were intruders, it would be pretty easy to prove without reasonable doubt that he was simply defending himself and not attacking police intentionally. That would be if he survived, which is unlikely.

@@EnthalpyAndEntropy The US government won't ever be tyrannical to the point that the people will feel the need to rise up together and the together part is as important as the right to own a gun. Without the militia working together, it's nothing. If 2A worked then we wouldn't have any tyrannical laws but we have plenty and more every day. All 2A really does is stop outside threats from invading because being invaded would unify the people. The way our government works, 50%+ of the nation can become tyrannical and the other half can't really do shit about it. They can scrape together enough rights to feel content, that's it. The people who aren't content can't do anything except wait for collapse which will potentially never happen. People are taught and believe we don't need guns because nothing ever happens to us directly and as a whole that proves we do. We don't educate people on the constitution enough to maintain the reason it exists.

What so few outside of Florida understand is that this Sheriff is merely telling the public, in layman's terms, what Florida law says about the use of lethal force. Without going into too much detail, the law here in Florida states that merely by entering an occupied home, apartment, domicile, tent or even automobile unlawfully and by force the legal occupant is automatically assumed under the law to have a justified, reasonable fear for their life and are rendered immune from both criminal and/or civil liability for the use of force against the unlawful intruder. Now, the use of force will still be investigated, but as long as everything happened the way you the legal occupant said it did, no charges will be filed, no civil suit can be pursued by the perp or his survivors. You can still be held liable for wild rounds fired, though; so accuracy still counts.

You're kidding yourself if you think the way things go in your garbage state/county are the same here. They're not. If it's blatant that a home invader, who had invaded numerous houses WHILE the police were actively in pursuit, after a criminal with a rap sheet like this douche had gets shot when in one of those numerous houses, after days of reports of the same in the area, our police wouldn't investigate any further into his death unless a statement or evidence found in his wake or on his person gave them reason to suspect otherwise. If you recall, it took effort to get the case on trayvon Martin's shooting to get a second glance. We don't care about the rights of criminals in Florida, if you die while perpetrating a crime like this, we generally say "good riddance to bad rubbish" and move on. We have the best stand your ground laws in the US: if you're being aggressive to me at a gas station and I shoot you dead then and there, and a cursory investigation involving witnesses and cctv shows that you were acting in a way that could reasonably be taken as threatening, and they don't have any statements from witnesses or footage showing otherwise, or evidence recovered from your corpse, that's going to be the end of the investigation into your death. The cops have better things to do with their time than waste it on an obvious scumbag.

My only concern here is the over use of no knocks, causing confusing conflicts that end in death and injury. I'm wondering on his mindset on that. To many raids leads to mistakes. And unfortunately cops are not as understanding of citizens in this as they want us to be. Been a few cases, one about two years ago, cops hit a wrong house and the first cop in got sent to glory. The police went after the home owner for murder 1, despite them creating the confusion in the first place. They got mad when he won. A cop thinking like this and excessive use of raids is incompatible. And I don't this it is the traditional home defense rights that is at fault for that.

Apparently not because if someone has been found guiltily of a domestic incident or had a firearm on them for protection with alcohol in their system, they are deemed a felon. And then stripped of their rights. This is EXACTLY why as veteran myself, I have no problem when a situation goes sideways, if an LEO ends up downed. Until the 2A can’t be undermined by corrupt LEOs or unconstitutional federal state local laws that are enforced; send it. Even people who served time in jail for REAL crime. Ie were aware of their action and caused detriment like theft or whatever. The moment they have served their sentence in jail and released, their full rights need restored. To anyone thinking politically, let be a reminder most Veterans ending up in jail because their reality comes from the Constitution, not some local law passed by corrupt mayor; they vote Republican more often then not. So as a veteran, If I ever knew a veteran that was committed of a felony, and they carried a firearm, I wouldn’t say shit. I’ve realized how incredibly easy it is to label someone that now in days. And even so, they have the Natural Law right to self protection.

I can’t believe the Sheriff actually said it publicly… That was awesome! We have been erroneously programmed to believe that the job of law enforcement is to “protect and serve”. This feels warm and fuzzy but, law enforcement is only authorized to enforce the law, which means that law enforcement has no real authority to do much of anything until someone violates a law. Then, they can apprehend the alleged violator and bring them to trial. So, simply put, only AFTER the bad guy kills you and your family, does law enforcement have the Constitution authority to do its job. The only one who can protect you, your family, and your property is you… I am, and you are the Militia.

Finally, he balled up his fists, demanded to be let in, and reached for the doorknob. That's when I showed him the AR15. His attitude changed immediately, saying he'd just walk. I don’t talk to the dude anymore because he’s a massive prick always has been to the family, but I will always appreciate his teachings about fire arms and fire arm safety! Without that I’d probably be on the wrong side of this argument and ignorant to the importance of self defense as several of the schools that I went too never talked about it and if they did they were completely against the use of fire arms or fire arms being in the hands of the people minus a select few of my teachers who supported the second amendment which was a very small amount.

When the second amendment was written, there was no such thing as a police department. Every city, every town, had their own local militia which would stand up in times of war or be called upon by the locals to catch criminals or fight off attackers. The towns and cities were self-reliant and it was expected that every able-bodied man would know how to shoot and use a gun so they could defend not only themselves but their community. The first police force wasn't created until 60 years later, and even then only in Boston. It took almost a century before America had anything like what we have today. So the 2nd amendment was not intended for the Police. It was intended for every person who wanted to defend their home, their community, their country. This guy has it right. Completely. We can't rely on the Police, they won't ever be there fast enough. Instead, we need to be ready to do it ourselves, if needed. Home invasions often lead to injury or death for the homeowner. This criminal had a history that basically made it a matter of time until he accidentally killed someone. I'd rather the criminal die than the innocent home owner.

I get you 100% but if we can’t rely on the police… why do we need them?

@@fernieibarra9025 I see it as an alternative for the folks who don't have the ability or means to defend themselves. Not everyone has the guts or ability to defend themselves.(edit. Grammar)

@@fernieibarra9025 If a crime is committed upon me or my property, I don't have time to track the criminal down or recover stolen items. We do rely on police for that; we CAN'T rely on them to show up in two seconds when that's all the time a person has to react to a break-in. Self-defense in the heat of the moment is dependant on...self.

I hate to disagree with you, but guards have been around for millenniums before America was built. Sure they weren’t called the police, but they did have guards that would ensure that a bread thief was prosecuted. The second amendment was not intended to police ourselves, it was intended to police the government. The founding fathers knew that the only thing that would stop a tyrannical government was to give people the power. They took a huge risk, in fact many of the founding fathers did not want to give people that much power. James Madison wrote what was said during the formation of the constitution and many of the founding fathers called the average citizen “mob, uneducated, not worthy of decisions” its incredible what the majority of the founding fathers thought of us, but just a handful wanted to try to give people the power

@@fernieibarra9025 we need them to do routine mundane things that many of us prefer not to do. Like patrol remote areas, maintain national boarder and crossing, give directions to tourists, manage “lost and found” counter in police station (think Japanese police) etc…
