I give my like for that alligator in the pool that keeps its mouth wide open for 4 minutes in a row. He never gave up, even when the guy stopped throwing food and started talking, he never gave up hope. His persistence is inspiring.

I grew up with an alligator in my back yard. Alex was 6'-8'.... My dad forbid us from feeding it and we were taught to never approach the water's edge quickly. Alex was never a problem.

@@godsgrace5777 lol yes but they can become somewhat more tame after years of being fed, and some can sort of develop a “bond” as they are very social animals, much like how cats think you are a cat. They will always remain potentially dangerous but some if raised in captivity with nurturing constant care can learn to just chill more than normal because it acts as a goal/reward to get food. It also depends on the person too. They respond to fear and microchanges in behavior so much like a lion tamer, need to always be cautious, but some, can tolerate humans just fine eventually. Just always need to have backup and constant awareness. I work with lizards and snakes and very similar. Most spook easily at first but then calm down. Some crocodiles can even learn names or command words to a degree, usually associated with getting food. Some lizarda and crocodiles actually enjoy minimal touching eventually, they do possess dopamine receptors in regards to peripheral neurons. It just depends on how impressionable the individual animal is. Still need to be aware and always have backup. They are not totally “mindless” monsters all the time....

@@azillliasmith2734I think in birds, their function of magnetic field navigation is through a protein called “cryptochrome”, this might be what the gators use. Humans also have the cryptochrome protein. “CRY2” I believe is a variation in humans. It is a relatively unstudied protein, and sensitive to earths magnetic field. I think humans have this animalistic feature as well, just in a way that our human body and consciousness seems to override/ dull the instincts or efficacy of these proteins

@@vineleak7676 You are correct, but he knows what he's doing. He's been around and trained gators for 20 years so he knows their behavior very well. He doesn't like wild gators around him just because of the small chance they'll be unpredictable. But all the named gators in this video he's probably known for at least a couple years. I recommend you watch some of his other videos if you're curious because he addresses this often.

I was born and raised in FL on lakes. Gators LOVE dogs. I remember a story where one took out a St. Bernard. Then people freaking out seeing them on land basking. They think they will get chased. I tell them, they aren't lions. You walk up to them (please dont), most of the time they scatter back into the water. They are ambush animals and rather get you on the shore, but most of the time they do not give a dang about humans. BUT still reason I will not swim in a Florida lake and NEVER at night. If you have not been on a FL lake at night, with a flashlight, yeah, that will confirm why you dont swim at night

A friend of mine lost his St Bernard on lake virginia in winter park in the 70s.. it was in all the papers.. I had a lot of encounters with gators in lakes when I was a teen - i loved to fish Tons of gators at night and easy to see..

Thank u for taking care of those beastly babies. And preventing them from being killed. I think I’m going to call you the American crocodile hunter even though I know they’re not actually crocodiles. They’re in the same family, possibly genus, I’m not sure as I haven’t looked it up. I’m a biochemist not a zoologist, but I personally feel, that although I’m across the country in California, we too very much appreciate what you do and how you take care of them because they are beautiful and they’re God’s creatures and it’s amazing that you were chosen to be their caretaker. Bless you for all you for all you do and thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing them so much compassion and love. Absolutely amazing how comfortable he is kneeling with these wild creatures all around him. I always thought gators were fairly passive if not bothered, and this really confirmed it. Yet he says not to ever feed them since they associate food with humans, or humans as food, but he defies the rule so nonchalantly since he reads them so well!

I'll never forget as a kid in florida my family lived on a golf course and a couple friends and I were playing in the woods and on our way to another friends house we had to go through this narrow walkway one side was a lake, the other side was a huge ditch it wasn't easy to walk through but it saved you like 30 minutes of walking. One day walking through there all you could hear was that hiss I have never turned around and ran so fast. We never saw it but it was loud so im guessing we must have been close.

i work with about 25 alligators and what Chris says is true . They are great animals to work with as long as YOU stay calm. But even attempt this with our saltwater crocs and the result would be very different. GO CHRIS

I've been around alligators all my life. River fishing on the MS river, and others I come in contact with them all the time. Lots of times I walk up a river chest deep holding a 5 gal bucket in one hand and rod in the other. Depending on the time of day I would see them in the shallows or eye shine on the banks. Never had an issue. I respected them and they left me alone. It breaks my heart everytime I see a report or video vilifying gators.

They're nuisance alligators. Chris has rescued them and has gave them a home to live. At least watch his videos before letting it "break your heart". If it hadn't been for Chris, they would've been killed for their meat/money coz it's illegal to relocate the Gators.

@@glowieverno they aren’t, these gators are just kept in captivity for educational shows of feeding them like this and other stuff. None of them are turned into useless accessories, they just live their life relaxing in a captive setting and safe from people.

They're really not. He keeps telling people that any one of his "well trained" aligators would kill him if he gives them the chance or reason to. They're trained, not tame. They're wild animals and their instincts will be to kill him if he displays a weakness or if they feel threatend by him. Never forget that. He doesn't.

You are very wrong to assume they’re going to hurt him as they’re trained BUT he makes the emphasise that they’re only trained and not tame animals. If he showed a sign of weakness through for eg. Falling, he says they’ll definitely attack him.
