These exercises release the Suprascapular Nerve from common points of entrapment along the entire path of the nerve. Daily performance of these movements help relieve pain, numbness and weakness due to entrapment.

Thank you for this video. I had AC joint surgery this past December 4th and started physical therapy two weeks later. All the atrophied muscles are filling out except for the infraspinatus/teres muscle group and I can't seem to get them to fire. I found articles on Suprascapular Neuropathy After Distal Clavicle Excision, which is what I think is the cause of the issue. I've been lifting for over twenty years and it would be unfortunate if there is permanent nerve damage. I don't see the ortho again for a follow up for another couple weeks and I'd like to get started trying to release the nerve now. Please let me know if you have any more routines I should follow. Subscapular nerve glide is not helping in reducing the upper arm pain. Any suggestions?

Getting a lot of rib crunching with these, but it's nice. Been dealing with a slew of issues all at once for the last 9 months, looking for the best solutions to avoid surgery. I already have bilateral cubital, carpel tunnel, ulnar elbow subluxation, and a clenched occipital/rhomboid area. It's been hard for my medical team to find anything helpful, as my scans are all normal. My 2nd emg was more involved and they were able to find what the last doc didn't. All of this started with some wrist and elbow pain, now I feel hobbled in my whole upper back. Hear it takes years for people to find the correct diagnosis, since alot of the pain and numbness isn't something you can easily study on an xray or MRI. Hoping this year, I get some reprieve. Nice channel, thanks for this one, I appreciate

Thank you for posting these videos-life changing I would love to know a pillow recommendation for hyper mobility or neck instability. Also sleeping positions etc often the bulk of the day is in bed and I feel like for a lot of people myself included-this is the area we end up undoing the progress.

Generally speaking, the best pillow will fit your neck so that it supports the curve without accentuating it and it supports the head in neutral alignment with the spine. The specific pillow varies person to person based on their body size (shoulders, head, neck and upper back) and spinal curves. The best sleep position is typically keeping the head aligned with the trunk in a neutral midline position. Avoid the fetal position with the head curled down chin toward chest. When lying on the back, avoid using extra pillows to prop up the head.

I occasionally feel a slight pinch in my shoulder when my arm is at roughly 45 degrees when I do this glide. The pinch disappears when I raise my arm past roughly 45 degrees and lower it below 45 degrees. Does this pinching sensation mean I should stop doing the glide or is this to be expected if I'm flossing the nerve through some scar tissue?

I'm trying to find work-arounds because of a rotator cuff tear. I still can't quite do this one on the affected side

I suggest using an overhead pulley to help lift your arm overhead passively. You might also try the nerve glide lying down, either with your other arm gently pulling the affected arm overhead or using a pulley... You might MacGyver it with a rope or strap around the headboard of your bed. Best to you!

While I was doing this I felt a pinch pain in my neck in one of the reps and immediately stopped. Did I just damage my nerve more? Do you have any advice, I'm a bit worried.

It is unlikely that you damaged the nerve with this exercise but it is wise to stop. There might be more going on or your posture/movement might need to be different.
