That’s a wonderful idea to stitch locks of hair into a sampler. I have just recently got back into cross stitch. And the history of these samplers intrigues me. I haven’t stitched a sampler as of yet, but I plan too. I enjoy your videos very much! Stay well!

Here in Montana, we are in phase-1 coming out of lockdown. I finally get my nails and hair done. But, phase 2 - I get to see my daughter and family, AND get to visit the only embroidery shop in 365 miles! Need supplies, urgently. I love the scottish sampler idea of using hair. I'm adding that to mine!

Looking forward to seeing the new releases on Friday! Yes. opening one of your samplers is a bit like Christmas. All your samplers are a treasure to us. Thanks for all your hard work!

The rose on your newly stitched sampler is so beautiful and life-like! I see the texture of the petals and almost smell it’s soft unmistakable fragrance. I can hardly wait for you to reveal the finished project! I will have to stitch this sampler. Margaret Anderson, the Scottish Sampler, was educational for me. I am new to samplers so I cling to every bit of information you have to offer. ( I told you your pop-ins were a master class for us novices! ). I have seen initials, names, locations, favorite verses, but never locks of hair! Of course, Margaret never conceived of a time when DNA extracted from a hair sample could reveal information about their diet, chemical exposure, medical issues, possible inherited conditions, a wealth of knowledge. Fascinating! I must stitch this sampler, hair samples included! You, Nicola, are an enabler! And I adore that about you! Your excitement becomes my excitement! Stay well and stitch on!

Beautiful sampler! Just yesterday afternoon my aunt brought me a family memento that I've been hearing about, but had never seen until yesterday. She gifted me with a thick 18" lock (hank?) of bright red hair from my great-great grandma Lily Middleton. I told her I would incorporate some of it into a reproduction sampler when I find just the right one. Imagine my surprise when I see this today! The timing is so amazing that this one is the obvious choice. I loved it when I saw it but when you mentioned it had hair, wow!!!

I love the rose on you sampler. I can't wait to see the finished sampler. I know it is one that I will be stitching. I am so happy that I found your videos. I have learned so much from you. I have never stitched a sampler before. But I did purchase Sarah Spencer, and I have been working on it. I am so in love with it. I am using the dmc for it. But I am very interested in trying the 100.3 silks that you use. My husband has purchase Anne Thomas 1854, for me for Mother's day. It should arrive later this week. I can't wait to get it and just read all the history you put together for the girls that stitching the samplers. That is as much fun to read as it is going to be stitching the sampler. Anyway I am rambling, I so look forward to seeing the new releases on Friday. And the sampler that you are stitching for your husband. Love, love the rose on that pieces. Please stay safe. And thank you so much for your wonderful work and videos.

That rose on your sampler is delicious looking, I can't wait to reproduce it. And the Scottish samplers' colours are beautiful. Should we change the names to our family's if we are going to stitch a lock of hair onto the sampler or leave them as charted? What a lovely idea. Too bad I don't have the long locks I did many years ago and I could do a tiny braid. :)

It is good to make a sampler your own. The little girls put their names on their work not their teachers so i think by putting your own names is following on their footsteps.

Could the couched hairs on Margaret’s sampler be above each persons name that the hair came from? Years ago I saw in an antique store a framed piece made from someone’s hair. It was quite intriguing and maybe a bit disturbing. Your rose is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing what that sampler looks like.

Can’t wait for your sampler and for this sampler to be reproduced. But the idea of locks of hair, other than the stray ones that find there way into my stitching, I find to be kind of creepy. I love mourning jewelry but they used a lot of hair also. Yuck! Thanks for keeping our spirits alive with all your sharing! You are the best!

Always interesting Nicola. I didn't know ladies out hair in them, but then again I suppose it makes sense. The rose is beautiful. The hairdresser's are going to be very busy. Sadly I have hacked at mine twice already but luckily I've a kinky hair sew hope it's not showing too much. Take care dear🤗

Beautiful rose. Not that I disagree but I think when we realize chemicals , frames and other product comes form other countries that we are just one big community. We all needs each other to live, be it for survival or fun stuff. Stay safe
