Happy FlossTube Friday - FlossTube #3
Thank you for stopping by!
Welcome back to the Tiger Lily Designs Studio.
In today's episode I will be sharing my new project bags made from vintage stitching. The stitching comes from vintage table linens sourced from a local antique mall. Each project bag is a one of a kind featuring a focal point stitched piece on the front.

Hi, just love your videos and your project bags are fab. I love the way you have incorporated your vintage projects, which show cases them. The vintage table runner should be included in a quilt as it is too beautiful to cut and divide. Look forward to hearing what you have decided to do. Hopefully you will showcase your quilts. Happy stitching 🧵

Ooooh your question is hard to answer because I think it all depends on the motif you're showcasing. The way you designed both work for each motif. I find it hilarious that we are calling those linens vintage when I'm pretty sure they were stitched while I was alive. And I'm only a year older than you 😂 You are very talented, creative, and fearless which makes you so fun to watch. I would never have thought to cut up linen as a way to upcycle rather than see it as waste.

OMG! I just love your comment so much. Yes, I guess some days I feel vintage too....especially when my teenager rolls her eyes at me a few too many times. :) Thanks so much for watching

It's amazing the number of cross stitch projects you have done... Maybe I am a slow stitcher 😵‍💫 I could never stitch so much... My hands and my eyes hurt me after 2 houres of stitching. It needs a long time to cross stitching. I am impressed of your works. 😱

I’m down the road from you in McLean. Used to bike to Purcellville a lot when I lived in Sterling. Love that little town and surrounding area. I’m a Gamecock but please don’t hold that against me lol. Was there 1978-1980 before I transferred to U. Of Md. which is how I ended up in this area. I’m a newbie quilter and project bag maker and enjoying your videos a lot.

Another great video. Your vintage bags are great. I have quite a few embroidery pieces myself and will try to make some bags for my sisters gifts. I love to embroidery as well as cross stitch. I have a sewing machine but by no means a seamstress. I guess practice makes perfect. 🧵🧵🧵. Happy stitching.

Oh my goodness...I love them both. I really love the patchwork tho! I also think if you add those to a quilt too! I have some and now you have my juices flowing. At least they would be out and used. I just have them in a tote in the basement. This is fantastic way to enjoy vintage linen items and repurpose them. Thank you so much for sharing this and your process too! Vintage items are the best!

Thanks so much! I love re-purposing items so they get a new life. I'm guilty of a storage room of "stuff" .....trying to slowly make my way through the mess and use my stuff, rather than just store my stuff. :)

The project bags turned out awesome!!😍 Using the remaining table runner to create a quilt would be lovely. I’m picturing you cut it into some pieces, but use the corners in the corners of the quilt, borders in borders, etc. it could be like you cut it apart to put back together expanded. 🙃 Thanks for sharing your ideas with us! After seeing what you’ve created - I’m thinking I might try to use a tshirt to make a project bag🤩

Love your videos. I like the single fabric so that the stitching is the focal point. Tote bags, pillow fronts would also be wonderful for the vintage linen cross stitch. Thank you! I would love a pattern for your folio that you make. So unique.

Oh sweet Kari, that table runner is so beautiful I don’t know how you chose to use it, did you ever put the motif you charted up for sale ? That would be so beautiful, if you can sell me the motif chart PLEASE let me know. Kari, your off having fun at stitch-go and here I sit, with your pattern I bought for the project keeper, I have PROMISED myself I may NOT start anything until I finish this baby ABC crochet, I disappointed myself, it was to be finished by Friday…as I digress … I have had my crochet hook on fire , it won’t be finished tonight, but tomorrow she will be finished and off to the new expecting dad from my husbands job . This was a two at most agreement, that started 2 years ago. I will make them as long as I can and I make my husband pay me $50 each, which we know is way more that, anyway that’s how my imprint will be when I travel away from here to see my Father God. So that will be done tomorrow, and then I will go buy my supplies for the pattern keeper, make that cross my fingers and then start cross stitching Royal Holiday by Nora Corbett, and I put myself on a time frame, to be displayed at our Christmas wall for the holiday feast with our family….wow sorry it turn into a novel 😂😂

Today I have learned a point who stressed me. In one cross stitch there is 4 little cross stitch. We do it with 1 thread linen instead of 2. I have always done a little peace of design but it makes me mad🤪 I hope I will never do this stitch in the futur

Purple Tula bag coming my way! I could not resist! I actually wanted one of each! Lol! Thanks for the Stitchville info. It is in my cart! Maybe an envelope type bag would be interesting way to incorporate the long linen. Have you seen Deborah Harry’s page on Facebook? She saves old pieces of embroidered fabric and makes them into bags. She is in Maine, I think.....y’all would get along famously! Great necklace, by the way! Love your videos!
