Loved hearing and seeing all the memories from your trip to Phoenix. I have been to the Attic more than 10 times and i always find a new model that interests me. I never grow tired of walking around that shop! Loved following your spring 12 hours of cross stitch, Carolyn, so fun. Anna- well done on the Sarah’s Basket finish. Great attitude of learning from and living with our stitched pieces. I am working my way across, right to left, and started the basket yesterday A very enjoyable stitch. Thanks for spurring me to start it. Thanks for sharing xx

More than 10 times! I can understand how you always see something new. I'm stitching the next basket horizontally, for sure! I should have been able to predict what happens on the diagonal - so similar to the bias of fabric. Looking forward to seeing your "Sarah's Basket"! Happy Crafting, Tricia! So glad you got to experience the magic of the Attic and that it was suitably magical! It truly is a special place. And I was also overcome by the model of the Checkerboard Stag sampler, it was one of the first things I bought on my first trip there - getting to see all the pieces in person really is so special

Loved going along with you. So happy to see your Mexican samplers. I plan to do one in honor of my grandmother. It is fun to see it on the wall at the Attic. You always inspire and bring lots of joy.

@@we.are.curiouscrafters I am planning to stitch Queenstown Sampler Designs “Mexican Garden” because my grandmother was always in her garden. I plan to modify it adding her name and DOB and maybe my mom’s name and DOB and my name & DOB.

So glad you had a wonderful time on your sister vacation to the Attic. Great video! Gets me more excited to also go on a sister cross stitch vacation with one of my sisters in two weeks. She is driving up to Chicago and I will pick her up there, on our way to do a stitching road trip. We will be going to Country Sampler in Spring Green Wisconsin, then Fiberworks Stitchery in Mason City Iowa, then Welcome Stitchery in Blue Earth Minnesota and finally Stitchville USA in Minnetonka Mn( for their last hurrah, because they are closing the end of May). We might not find much left by the time we get there but at least we we will have that memory of going there together. So excited!! Let the laughs and the shopping begin!

Frank Lloyd Wright has always been a figure I’ve known about. I grew up not far from Falling Water in Pennsylvania. Didn’t appreciate a school field trip there, but definitely appreciate as an adult. The area is beautiful if you ever find yourself there. All of your projects look fantastic. To the people! 🥂

Thanks for sharing your projects and travels. I love the sweaters for the grands! The idea of doing a 12x12 for ech season is great. The Attic and Taliesin West are on my list of destinations even if I don't get to any of the Attic's retreats. Happy stitching!

So wonderful to share your visit to The Attic! I was there for the first time in January and have such fond memories of it. I don’t know what kind of magic it has, but it surely has something very special about it. I have the Mexican Deer sampler chart from a magazine and love the silk conversion you shared. I think a call to the Attic might be in order for those silks!

What a wonderful trip you had! How special to share the love of your craft with a sister and be able to experience the Attic together. You both found such wonderful projects - I look forward to seeing your progress, and the slow reveal of the other treasures you brought home. The palettes you showed are so useful - I actually make my own - cutting up file folders, punching holes, writing down the name and symbol of each thread color, and just hanging a few strands of each color on the palette (and if you use pencil you can erase everything and reuse!) Great video. - as always.

It was just soo wonderful to watch you both especially on this floss tube! You touch my heart and I relate to you so much in your interaction with one another! My sister and I are similar, but unfortunately she recently moved to Iowa to help with 4 grandchildren in one family…ages 5, 3 and twin 1 year olds! She doesn’t get a chance to stitch much these days! I miss her, but we’re talking about possibly going to our first retreat in Amana if it’s not too expensive. I loved your recap on your visit to the Attic and can’t wait to go there maybe when we make our trek this year from NC to Portland to see our granddaughter! I haven’t tried silk yet, so I’ll look forward to hearing how you like your 103’s! Happy stitching! And thanks for starting my day in a very happy way! 💕

I’m the Susie who replied on your first floss tube who was a first grade teacher… yes, when I go to see Jenny and Scott in Portland I go on the first day to see Janine at Acorns and Threads and improve my stash! I’ve gotten hugs from Anna from Stitch Roadie for the past two years and once from Carolyn Zook! It takes me weeks to stop smiling!

I went to the Attic for the first time on April 5! It really is an amazing place. Did you go to the Musical Instrument Museum? They had a great acoustic exhibit. We lucked out with the weather, it was 66 for a couple of days that weekend. I’m in the LA area and there are no cross stitch stores here at all. I agree the models make all the difference in the shopping experience. I bought the Cross stitch Antiques chart as well. And I just stitched Elizabeth Howells! I didn’t see everything that you saw, so I will have to go back. I’m glad you had a great time! Susan Murphy

P.S. Though the text on your pattern for Emiline might indicate that it was thought to have been stitched in Ireland, based on the style of alphabet used -- the fact of the matter is that Huntingdon County -- where I grew up SW of Montreal -- was settled not only by the French, but also by the English, Scots and IRISH settlers. They would have brought their handwriting, their writing style with them to Quebec when the emmigrated from Ireland.

Oh, yay! Wishing you a glorious trip! Although our room was comfortable, the surrounding area was not that pleasant. We will probably look for a different hotel next time. I have an idea, though. Why not stay at one of the hotels The Attic uses for their retreats? Happy Crafting, Holly! -Anna

The Emeline Hotchkiss sampler stopped me in my tracks. The text on the sampler mentions "Lacolle". That is a small town (village?) in southwestern Quebec near where I grew up. I went to school with kids from there -- and have been there, though not for 4 decades or more. It's a very pretty area. It's a real place. I couldn't find any Hotchkiss descendents in my high school year book but I suspect if I were to ask my cousins (my father's family settled in the area in the 1820s) they might recall some.
