I hope you enjoy the tutorial on making Flosstags. This is how I do it and I know there are others that may do it differently. Although I take the plastic area off on the back of my puncher, I don't recommend doing that unless you feel confident on punching. Leave it on, and punch with it and see how you like it first.
Here are some measurements:
The Tag itself measures
2 3/4" long and 1 3/4"wide
The circle for the floss measures: 3/4" around
The actual Punching Machine itself measures:
Large Tag: 6" long and a little over 4 inches wide
Floss circle puncher: 2 1/2" long and 1 3/4" wide
What is the brand of my Punchers?
The tag puncher is Recollections and the top reads
2 11/16in/6.83cm
The circle puncher for floss is Recollections and says on the top
5/8in/1.59cm

You can also use old greeting cards, postcards, wrapping paper (just smooth the lines out if you glue it onto the poster board), scrapbooking paper and more. I even saved some of my bags from souvenir gift shops in Europe. I have some of the prettiest floss tags from The Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium, all from saving my throwaway souvenir gift bags. I've also used the box from the European cookies I brought home. The possibilities are endless :)

One thing to point out about the poster board is that on matte finishes the ink from your pen is absorbed by the paper. Slick or shiny finishes I find the ink does not dry and not only does the ink not dry but you also run the risk of having ink smeared on your gorgeous (and sometimes expensive) floss. Thanks for the tutorial!!

Great tutorial! Thank you so much. When you put your floss through the tag, is it ready to be pulled off to use? What size do you cut your floss? I use two strands to stitch so I cut my floss 24” and when I pull the one strand of floss from the tag, it gets really, really kinky. Is it because of the length? Thanks 🙏
@911stitcher
@911stitcher 3 жыл бұрын
I've heard it can get real kinky if you put the floss on too tight. I'm not sure what else might make it kinky like thats. I've heard bobbins can cause them to have creases in it too if wound tight and kept on the bobbin for a while. If it's DMC, you can slightly dampen the floss with a dab of water to make it a little easier when you full it off the tag or bobbin. I wouldn't do it with Classic Colorworks though, as some is not Colorfast. As for length, I use one continuous length. I don't cut mine. I like to pull off floss and determine the length I need at the time. I hope that makes sense

@911stitcher
@911stitcher Жыл бұрын
I use a light poster board and not the heavy duty one that’s super hard. I also use a lot of glue stick so it’s nice and thick coverage. The only thing I can think of that would make the glue/paper peel is if maybe you live in a humid environment. I have a friend that has some trouble with humidity and paper crafts. In that case maybe try a different adhesive like the spray. I hope that works for you

why not just use a thicker white paper to begin with.
@911stitcher
@911stitcher 2 жыл бұрын
Sure, you can always use the thick paper or even a poster board if you want just plain white or colored tags. You could always put a sticker on them to jazz them up. I mentioned in this video also using recycled greeting cards. But if you want to use fun, pretty paper like holiday themes or like the Alice in Wonderland paper & Victorian paper I found, its way too thin. Good luck finding any thick enough. Postcards are another great option.
