I enjoyed your video and had a good laugh about your changing upper left to Washington State etc. It took me a little while to translate your geographic directions to left and right directions. Can’t help but wonder how your international watchers did with the trip through the USA. 😂

This is a really helpful video about scroll rods. I'm going to try machine stitching a band of muslin to my linen as my old Bucilla rod uses tacks! Digress away! I bought prescription glasses online for the first time and saved $400 from what the store quoted, but they didn't have an overnight option for no line trifocals :)

I agree with seeing holes better. I evolved to stitching this way, over the years, the fabric loosens and it was just easy to stitch with sewing method and prefer the hand comfort with a hoop or scroll frame vs “in hand”. Lately I have evolved a bit to 2 hand method, using hoop stand, and I poke needle in from the bottom eye first. Liking it very much.

Perfect timing tutorial. I stitch in hand and have been thinking of a scroll frame for the larger pieces. Thank you

I stitch in hand with the poke method, even my full coverage pieces. My stitches go from Florida to Seattle then New York to Los Angeles so the top stitches are slanted to the right. I started doing that because it was easy to remember that stitches go the way my handwriting goes, I also stitch from left to right ( left-handed here ) Thing is, if I want to save thread, in a kit for example, I occasionally will stitch my upper stitch from LA to New York if the next stitch is somewhere on the right side, just to save that little extra thread in the back, hahah.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I really do love my scroll frames for the sewing method. I feel like I frog less.. though it's only anecdotal. I don't have any data to back that up.

OMG- so glad I found you! I am a sewer and stitch the way you do, except for the left to right- still turning my work upside down🙂. anyway, just recently started a project on a very large piece of fabric and wanted desperately to find a way to hold it other than a hoop- the scroll bar with a loose tension worked perfectly! Thank you so much!!! Well done!

@@ger_gerxstiches hi again! Sorry to bother you but I have a question. Is there any fabric type that you don’t/can’t “sew” on? I’m having so much trouble with Davos and Hardanger - threads slip between the crosses. Ugh!
@ger_gerxstiches
@ger_gerxstiches Жыл бұрын
@Victoria Nardone I haven't sewn on Hardanger or Davos before. But what I can tell you is I have the same trouble with 1 over 1 on linen and evenweave when I use the sewing method. I have to put the fabric in a hoop and stitch up and down. The side to side pulling with the sewing method seems to pull the threads underneath the weave of the fabric. With over 2, the threads that are pulled kn aren't touching and so it doesn't slip under or in between. I had to learn the hard way when I started a big project on 25 ct over 1. I eventually abandoned it and restarted on a higher count over 2. Good luck!

It’s not called stitch in hand when you use a frame. Stitch in hand is usually completely holding your fabric in hand, no hoops or scroll frames, etc….
