Agreed!! I put them in my big 10 of U.S. thrash bands. The big 10 includes the big 4 of Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer, of course, with Flotsam And Jetsam included in the other six along with Testament, Overkill, Exodus, Death Angel, and Sacred Reich.

What damaged Flotsam's popularity, if comparing with other thrash metal bands, like the big four, was their name. I like it, actually, but it's definitely not catchy. Now you have a band named Metallica, Megadeth or Slayer, heck, definitely captures attention. These things matter.

It's a shame where metal is today. I've almost entirely converted to Drum N Bass and Techno as they've remained quite steady for 2 decades. Metal has been oversaturated with screamo-core bands and hiphop mathrock

Eric A.K. has always been an amazing talent. This tune showcases his prowess at the "ferocious growl" that most metal singers can only mimic. Using vocal power with conviction is a rare gift. F n J fan since the debut, "Doomsday For the Deceiver" Saw them at Toad's Place in New Haven, Ct. (with Prong the opening act) while touring to promote "No Place For Disgrace." An unforgettable epic show!

Saw them for the first of 2 times on the same tour in downtown Orlando, Florida at the Beacham Theater. Prongs 1st major U.S. tour promoting their debut LP Beg To Differ. I have collected every one of Flots' releases along the way & still regard the debut Doomsday for the Deceiver as their best. This was the sole full-length with Jason Newsted in the band line-up & is just a roaring monster of an LP that I consider to be one of the absolute best thrash metal albums of all time. "I LIVE, YOU DIE"...Flots til death!

Well no he can't hit those high falsetto long sustain notes any more. Which not many can do after mid 30's to 40's. But outside of that solid as hell for 38+ years. Overkill is kind of the same. They've continually pumped solid heavy tracks over their nearly 4 decades. Exodus is another prime example.

I remember being a 14 year old kid and seeing these guys in the neighborhood, including their then bassist Jason Newsted who a year later became the bass player for Metallica! Fun times in Scottsdale!

to think... there was a time, right around when Drift came out, where I could sing very close to how Eric was sounding then... I eventually grew older and lost it. Eric didn't... not even a tiny bit. I’ve been a fan since 1986 when “Doomsday for the Deceiver” came out. I originally had interest in them due to Jason Newsted because he’s from Michigan. They sound amazing as ever. Check out the album from them called “The Cold”...it’s epic.

Years ago, I told Mike Gilbert that he was in my ‘Big 4’ of lead guitar heroes/influences, along with Yngwie, Dave Murray, and Glen Tipton; He laughed & said “Dude, those guys are all my heroes too!” Such a humble guy, and still ripping absolute masterful solos amidst equally badass songs. I worked as security and also helped book bands at a venue in Arnprior Ontario, Canada. We booked Flotsam for a headlining show on a date when they were out on tour with Hammerfall. They were absolutely flawless and incredible live. Still one of the highlights of my time working in that venue. Great guys as well!!! Stoked for this new album!

I just saw them live three days ago at Graspop. They must be the most underrated thrash metal band in history. Their concert was my favorite from the dozens I watched in 4 days. A special shout out to Bill Bodily, who stole the show with his more than impressive bass playing skills.
