I moved from Wisconsin one year and ended up by Sutter Creek in the Sierra Nevadas during the tail end of a multiple year drought. The small ranch I was on had a dry tributary off of Sutter Creek. When those rains finally came and went I dug around there and found flakes of gold. I would regularly see pickup trucks backed up to gravel cliffs and guys shoveling possible paydirt right into their pickup beds on the high side of that creek and its winding narrow road.

Outside The Box.. and up a creek.. er a Hill! 😅 Darn Noseeums.. 😬 those little buggers are so small they go rate through your homes window screens, nasty bitting critters. I do not miss getting chomped or breathing in those things! I like your idea of grabbing a bunch of classified buckets of material for extra winter fun! I can’t tell you how much use and enjoyment I’ve gotten from 2 yards of pay dirt I brought home. So so gold unfortunately in there but having it rate there has been a very handy thing for testing many projects. Good work Jason! Peace Prospector Tripp

Here in Southwest Wisconsin, we have an area (driftless region) that wasn't affected by glaciers and i have been doing what you are doing, sample 5 gallon pails from where the unglaciated hilly regions transitions to glaciated areas where the hills have been ground down. I'm a trout fisherman so i focus my efforts around streams in those areas and have found similar albeit trace amounts of flour gold also. I don't get the numbers of gold like you seem to do up north

Cool video, and its great to see you trying new ways to get gold 👍 I dabble a little in geology and most people think gold is only found in water ways, it does accumulates more in water channels but its actually spread through out the whole area in the dirt. The ice age had glaciers from Canada push gold rich material into the Northern part of the US. The force of the glaciers would also move rocks for miles and round them just like river rocks. So these hot spots inland that you are digging in might have been created by glaciers deposits (called Moraines ) more so then rivers making them. I'm in NH and have had good luck digging spots that are 100ft+ in the woods from where the river is .

Liked, shared and commenting. One reason I like watching u, is because I can relate to yer surroundings. I’m in upstate New York n I c much of the same things in yer vids that I c just outside. I live 1 mile from a river. Up on a hill, n both me n said river r sandwiched between 2 mountains. I’m on a 19 acres old farm. On the river side of my property is a swamp. Then as we move away from the river further. We climb up a steep hill or cliff. Then on top there’s exposed bedrock. Then moving even further away from river across the field the bedrock dives under. Now let’s skip all the way to the other side of my yard. There I can dig. If I dig about 2 ft I find a large boulder layer. There is also conglomerates, sand n other layers depending on where I dig n how deep I am. It’s illegal to keep Ny gold . So I don’t go out n about n go dig beaches, kriks, or rivers. I just stay home n dabble in my own yard (or bench) (ancient river channel) I dunno, but it’s just my yard n nobody questions me digging my yard . 🗽🍻🤴🏻cobbles 🍺 29:36

If you do suggest working these hillsides, then I would suggest setting up the sluice on the hillside, and bring up buckets of water and water sluice the hillside (like old 1849ers dig with the California Gold Rush, and spraying down the hillsides with water, breaking up the soil, and outflows the slurry that can be sluiced). All the sands, silts, and shinies would then flow down your sluice and you wouldn't have to shovel. You are defintely going to have strong legs and shoulders hauling all that water up to the work site. Otherwise, one (with logic) would use a smaller hand garden shovel with all those obnoxious cobbles, and dig around and underneath them for the sands and shinies. Then process that product through the sluice, for later panning. A shovel, pick, and hoe in this location appears to be more work than getting down and tiny with smaller digging items like a hand garden shovel, mini-rake, mini-hoe, and a dandelion weed whacker flat scraper ... maybe even (gee - wonder where I got that inspiration as an archaeologist or a mason) - use a brick mason's trowel and a pointing trowel as digging implements !!!

Still think your best bet is finding an old river bed, my thoughts say its gold distributed by glaciers and finding an inside bend in an old riverbank that has had time to collect flower gold for decades and not been touched? 😊

Google earth has a way to look at height in terrain? Maybe look at a valley using Google and try and imagine the rivers old starting piont or path, how it enters the valley or if it could have been diverted or just the opposite path, then dig test pits where you can in a grid ? I dont know the area you are in but geography is the key with a glacier after thought ! The glacier is going to take the things associated with gold with it also so look for the lighter stuff but on the outskirts of valley if you have one ? Love watching as i cant go outside or walk yet !so im really enjoying your fun !tks

Happy Labor Day Jason, and all I can say is wow. That is some awesome gold and where you got it from. This is why I watch your channel. For the area we’re in and the gold you find is impressive. A big 16oz cobbles to ya 🍻, you deserve it. I also see you got a new shovel and I hope it’s approved by the mine boss. Thanks again for probably the best video you made, but all the videos are awesome. Thank you

@@FlourgoldWizardsI agree w/John this is one of your best. I think it was the methodical approach along with your thought processes for the spots you chose. That and the unexpected "what the hell is that?!" which made me LOL 😅

That was a great episode! So cool to see the gravel pit again. Wow has that changed. Maybe instead of gold, go there after a rain or during a rain and collect cool rocks... I would. lol If you have agates there, that would be a good place to look. I'm glad the boulder field did the best. That ridge beside the river looks like it would take way longer to get the same amount of material. If you can fill the bed of your truck up with classified buckets, you'll be busy all winter.

I really want to go there at night with the uv lights! Right next to that hill is a pile of the rocks with all the sand and small gravel removed! About 10 years ago i got trailers full to do a rock wall on my mother in law’s cabin up the road !
