Flourish is a beautiful, card-drafting, garden-building game in which players plan and build the garden of their dreams over the course of the growing season. With delightful imagery, players plan their gardens throughout the game to collect the most points.
This easy-to-learn game offers both competitive strategy and co-operative game modes, and a 1-7 player count provides a high level of accessibility and replayability.

5.0 - My absolutely favorite games. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
4.5 - Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
4.0 - Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
3.5 - Really enjoyed, don't love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
3.0 - A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn't lose any sleep.
2.5 - A game I'd play again , but will never suggest it myself
2.0 - A game I don't want to play again
1.5 - A game I can't find any reason to recommend
1.0 - A game that is just bad.

You do get to draw 2 cards each turn(on top of the 2 you get from neighbours) , if you use the "compost" variant which i don't even know why its a variant. Its crucial for cycling through cards. It's a bit of luck i agree, but its not as bad i think.

Glad you reviewed this. Picked it up at Gen Con without knowing anything about it and was hoping it would be good. Thanks Alex!

Got this last year from kickstarter, and for me its a pretty good game. Sure, nothing ground breaking, but its easy to pick up and play, easy to teach. If i had one major complaint, the end is a lot of math, if you use all the addons, but if you don't, its rather simplistic. My girlfriend loves it though, it's one of her favorite games. She's the gardener of the family. :)

This is sitting on my shelf of opportunity hoping we like it better but am slightly concerned it may be a miss as your opinion on this style generally is similar to mine

I considered this because of Wilson, but I'm glad I waited.

Their are a lot of this type of game with very little variation besides theme. Honestly once you have one of them you don't need any others.

I don't know, a decent amount of them do manage to stand out for me....this just wasn't one of them.

Flourish stands out for me for only one reason: Coop-Mode with 6 or 7 people (without the landmarks). I would never play this competitively, because of luck of draw and card-draft clogging up. Coop solves the problem and turns it in a beautiful puzzle. How do I get the cards in my hand to the player on the other side of the table? How can I communicate which cards I need? It’s coop without alpha player problem, careful planning and so satisfying, when you get an average score of 150+ … Plus it’s a nice game for 7 players. yes, it has its problems. But once you have a team and a Highscore you want to break, it’s pretty addictive. Last board game vacation, it was a great filler, that got played at least once a day in two weeks. I know, this fills only a very little niche, but for this niche, it’s the best game I know!
