@14:26 that “turn” is just genius, sounds and looks so simple , tbh just that principle of turning and opening the face of the nib has upscaled my flourishing! You are an absolute genius.

One of my favourite Pas' videos and perhaps the most difficult one to master; Brush pens are not easy. Kuretake 14 is still my favourite one.

At 10-minute mark, i had to try what you just showed and those 10 minutes alone elevated my brush pen scribbling from utter garbage to something, that I can finally work with. Paul Antonio - calligrapher by day, magician by night!

@@PAScribe Excuse me, scribe, not calligrapher! :) I am still trying to find the right position and initiate the movement from the wrist. Still feels weird and the sweet spot is elusive, but I can feel how tremendously it changes how the pen moves on paper. Thank you very much for sharing all that knowledge!

Interesting.. could one achieve better ordinary handwriting using this particular penhold with a pencil or ballpoint ?
@PAScribe
@PAScribe 4 жыл бұрын
John R certainly. It decreases finger work allowing for lighter writing and greater nib distance coverage with less movement.

With what kind of ink can I refill my sumi brush (the cartridges are only available in black) ?
@PAScribe
@PAScribe 7 жыл бұрын
margessw I don't refill mine. You could use Pelikan 4001 but you will need a hypodermic needle to do it
@margessw
@margessw 7 жыл бұрын
PaulAntonioScribe What do you mean by "I don't refill mine." ??? 🤔 Do you own some kind of magic power that makes your pens and brushes never running out of ink (which I was already suspected...😉) ?? And since you speak about Edelstein inks at the beginning of the video, wouldn't they work as well as the 4001 ? Or any kind of fountain pen ink actually ? I've refilled my Pentel Pocket brush (which is not as good as this Kuretake Sumi) with some Noodler's ink and it's working pretty well, at least at my very own small level of practice. And about the design you're teaching, the opposite-mirrored side is so hard to do !!

PaulAntonioScribe I'm still not sure why I would need hypodermic needles to refill my pen with some Pelikan 4001 (but even though, I'm actually suffering from a chronic illness and do have needles). I know you're already doing a lot on KZfaq for the community but, any tips about the opposite side of the design in the video ? You're teaching so well ! Thanks again for all !!!! Love from France, Marjorie

This was not made for KZfaq. The camera was set on a tripod no one was looking at it as it was a class where the focus was those in the class. I chose to share it as there was useful information in it others where we’re not there could have benefited from. Maybe I will remove it. As I am a little fed up of the lack of gratitude.
