Hi everyone, and welcome to FlowBites, my bite size Power Automate tutorial series.
In this video we are going to look at how we can interact and work with XML in Power Automate by using the XPATH expression. XML is a data structure which isn't as common in modern web development, however there are still legacy APIs that will push out data in XML format, for example some parts of SharePoint. This will look at how we can interact with an XML output to isolate specific parts.
Useful resources for finding more about XPATH:

Thank you for sharing this. I got confused that I got byte array and I thought I did something wrong. Luckily at 12:04 you showed this is normal.

I'd been struggling with XML and xpath in a flow for a few days now and couldnt get my head round it. More specifically I am relatively new to PA. I would be more at home with Python, Perl, Javascript or others so this is a big big help. Your other vidio on variables .vs. compose is tops too. Many thainks for publishing this excellent material. As a resident of Birmingham UK, I wondered if Black Country Power Platform User Group is due to meet / host a zoom or such any time soon ?

Hi Matt... Trying xpath - and am doing this addProperty(item(),'PercentComplete',formatNumber(float(xpath(outputs('XMLComments'),concat('//Array[ProjectId/text()="', item()['ReportId'],'"]/PercentComplete/text()'))?[0]),'P2','en-US')) it works, but it fails if PercentComplete is null, which I totally understand - how can I wrap this (in the select action) with an if null, then 0, else do what I want? I'm not clear in the syntax? I would prefer to do it here in the select action because it keeps my other code cleaner...

Thanks you. Do you know how to use xpath to get docx xml content? Specifically table data from a Word docx file (document.xml)?

Hi Matt, do you have any pointers on how to use xslt to transform an XML input into another XML output schema using power automate ?

Hi Stephane, I'm not sure this is possible as there's not a huge amount of support for XML, but let me have a look and see what I can find

driver.findelement(by.xpath("//a[text()='test2 test2']//parent::td//preceding-sibling::td[@class='datalistrow']//input[@name='contact_id']")).click(); like this can we make path for power automate like div[Id="tracking-detail"] div[Class="row"] parent[] or sibling []

Hi Matt, very nice tutorial. I'd like to apply to an UBL invoice I want to process. That XML starts with a namespace xmlns:ns0="www...../..."> (for confidential reasons I'm not fully showing the url) How to proceed in such case? Somehow I need to reference that namespace I suppose, I just don't know how exactly.
